Free will goes against god… Isn’t god all knowing? Then he knows what any person is deciding and acting upon.

perhaps for the same reason that many of them (think Dawkins, Sam Harris, etc) have devoted their entire lives and literary efforts to disproving the existence of a being that they claim does not exist.

actually, determinism and the absence of free will is a position more firmly adhered to by atheists than Christians. speaking of Sam Harris, go and see what he has to say about the subject. he considers us all to be automatons governed by the laws of physics and biology (which, if atheists are to be believed, either eternally existed – a position modern physics now refutes – or mysteriously sprang into existence in all their supreme order with no cause whatsoever). he (and very many other atheists who have thought through the implications of their position) say there is no free will whatsoever. it is very definitely more popular among atheists than it is Christians (or theists of any stripe).
