Flower of Life A Blueprint for Creation
From SoulScience Awakening You
Since ages, people have believed that the Almighty has based the creation of the universe on a geometric plan. This belief is supported by the occurrence (with amazing consistency) of certain patterns in nature. These sacred geometry and mathematical proportions, ratios and overtones are found in living things, light, cosmology, etc. The only geometric pattern, however, that is manifested in all creations is the Flower of Life.
The Flower of Life is the modern name given to a geometrical figure composed of multiple evenly spaced, overlapping circles. These circles are arranged to form a flower-like pattern with a sixfold symmetry. The most common form of the Flower of Life is the hexagonal one, where the center of each circle is on the circumference of six surrounding circles of the same diameter and thus composed of 19 full and 36 partial circles or circular arcs, enveloped by a larger circle.
It is considered by many as a symbol of sacred geometry, containing ancient religious values that represents the fundamental forms of space and time. In this sense, it is a visual expression of the life form. Additionally, it is also believed to contain a type of Akashic Record of basic information of all living beings.
Theosophists believe that The Flower of Life contains a secret set of symbols, known as the Fruit of Life, through which one can discover the most important and sacred secrets of the universe. The Fruit of Life contains 13 informational circles, each explaining another aspect of our reality. Thus these circles are able to give us access to everything ranging from the human body to the galaxies. In short, the Fruit of Life is considered as the blueprint for the universe; the basis for the design of every atom and molecule.
The Flower of Life can be found in all major world religions except for Islam and Hinduism. Many religions have left elaborate engravings of the Flower in many of their respective, sacred holy sites. The temple of Osiris at Abydos in Egypt contains the oldest known examples of the Flower of Life. The flower also appears in the walkways around the Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib, one of the holiest shrines of the Sikh religion. Then there is that ancient Christian symbol of Vesica Piscis that denotes two crossed arcs of a circle and can be seen as the building block of the Flower of Life. The Kabbalah, which has historically been studied by the followers of Judaism, has a symbolic connection to the Flower of Life in that the central symbol of the teachings of Kabbalah, The Tree of Life can be easily superimposed on the Flower. Finally, at the entrance to the Forbidden City – an ancient imperial palace in Beijing, which was built in the 1400s – the same Flower of Life can be observed under the paws of the Foo Dog or Guardian Dog.
In the end, it can be safely concluded that the Flower of Life is testament to the fact that there is one consciousness behind all of creation. And that all life forms have emerged from a single geometric base code – from the great cosmos, galaxies and stars to our DNA strands, flower petals, pine cones, tree branches, nautilus shells, crystals of diamond, all are based on the same principles of sacred geometry.
