Certainly doesn’t look that way to me.
6-years ago, the USGS reported approximately 900 quakes in the contiguous U.S. each week (from <mag 1 up to max mag). In the past 5 years, the quakes have grown from 900 to 1200 to 1400 to 1700 to 2100 quakes in any given 7 day period.
I'd say this justifies what the contributor is saying. Don't argue with me, take it up with USGS. Check their site online, you can see for yourself. Unless they have tampered with data, or withheld data, then the growth is obvious (since they aren't increasing the number of ground sensors installed by 3x in the past 5 years).
