The Key To Preserving American Freedom & Liberty

I was recently watching a segment on one of the news networks called “Watters World”. The host Jesse Watters goes to places like the streets of New York or Chicago to find out how many people know things like the name of the president or vice president, what is in our Bill of Rights, etc. What is amazing to me (and worrisome) is how many people cannot answer these basic questions.

America is at a crossroads, and we are losing the information war. It is clearly evident to me at this point that if we care about the future, the key to preserving America is education. Unfortunately, because of progressivism and those with an agenda, much of American history is no longer taught in schools, and we are raising entire generations of Americans who don’t know anything about the founding of this great country.

How can we expect them to defend liberty and freedom if they don’t understand the basic things that produced such a unique and exceptional nation that has truly been the “light of the world” for over two centuries? They won’t know if we don’t teach them, and we must change our ways to preserve this republic for the generations that come after us.

As Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

For the last year, I have donated my time 3 hours a night, Monday through Friday, doing a video talk show called American Liberty Live (http://ustream.tv/channel/newsamericatv), for the purpose of educating America. We have top shelf guests on the show (thanks to a veteran broadcaster who co-produces the show), and take calls from around the country. We  talk about our history, our founding documents, and what we need to do to get America on the right track. I think my wife probably thought I was a little bit crazy for doing this, but she knows I love my country, and want to be part of the solution. It has been an interesting journey so far (I’ve truly learned as much as my viewers/listeners), and I look forward to year two.

Over the last few years, I met a fellow patriot named John Peterson, and we became great friends. John and his partner David Koeschel have been truly legendary in Christian book publishing for 40 years. Recently, they partnered with Shiloh Road Publishing to put out a very special book called The Founders’ Bible. What makes this book so remarkable is that it has over 900 pages by Constitutional historian David Barton that tells the true history of America’s founding in the words of the founding fathers themselves. There is no other book like it, and the first time I saw it, I immediately wanted to give one to everyone I know. David Barton considers this to be the pinnacle of his life’s work, and it has excerpts from his private collection of over 100,000 original source documents from the time of America’s founding.

I’ve had many conversations with John Peterson over the last year about how to get this book into every home in America. Recently, I got very serious about the idea and launched a new website 1776 Books http://1776books.com.

What makes this site very unique is that we created a partnership program (that is free to join) that allows website owners and individuals to earn revenue by placing banner ads on their websites and/or sending email to others to let them know about the program.

What we did basically is take most of the profits and are giving them to the public as an incentive to help us with our goal of putting The Founders’ Bible in every home in America. For example, we just added “The Christian Life and Character of The Civil Institutions of the United States” by Benjamin Morris. This 1,000 page book hasn’t been published in 151 years (published originally in 1864) and tells the truth about America’s Christian founding. Additionally, we are now working on a homeschool/textbook edition of The Founders’ Bible that will also be available on our site later this year (4th grade level and up) in hardback and electronic editions. Important to note is that once you refer someone to the 1776 Books website with your partner code, you own that customer “for life”, and as we grow the program, you will continue to earn revenue. 

At 51 years old, I know the clock is ticking. Those in my age group and older who remember what America is supposed to be like (it was very different when we were growing up than it is today) have a limited amount of time to pass on this knowledge to the younger generations. I think we all bear the responsibility for doing this, and my hope is that you will join the 1776 Books Partner Program and help us. Together, I truly believe we can change America, one mind at a time. We have come dangerously close to being forever remembered as the generation that lost freedom and liberty in America. We can correct this and chart a better course for the future, but we must take education seriously, and put a priority on passing the torch of freedom to the generations who will come after us.
