3 Killed and 7 Wounded at ‘Trainwreck’ Screening in Louisiana Theater

Three people were declared dead at the scene and nine others were injured at a Lafayette, Louisiana theater Thursday night after a gunman opened fire during a screening of “Trainwreck.” One of the dead was reported to be the shooter himself.
Lafayette’s Daily Advertiser posted an update to their coverage at 9:41 p.m. CDT that included details from the local police department:
Three have been confirmed dead in the shooting at Grand Theatre on Johnson Street, according to Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft.
He said seven are injured, with injuries ranging from critical to non-life threatening. None of the names of the victims have been released.
Multiple witnesses reported the shooter was a white, middle-aged man, Craft said. State police have said the shooter was 58 years old.
Shortly after the shooting, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. local time, the Advertiser reported that two people were killed and six were injured in the incident but later upped those numbers to three and seven, respectively. The paper also cited City Marshal Brian Pope confirming that the shooter “turned the gun on himself” and was dead.
