An episode of ABC’s What Would You Do? was filmed in a San Antonio gun shop where an actor posed as a Father who wanted to buy a gun for his 7-year-old son to the disfavor of a disapproving woman.
Normally, most network news outlets tend to spin gun stories a bit more to the left, but ABC found out that the passersby in a Texas gun store are very opinionated about introducing youth to the shooting sports. Again and again, store customers leap to the defense of the would-be “dad” purchasing a .22LR bolt-action rifle for his son’s birthday– despite the pearl clutching of Ms. Pink Hoodie.
Don’t mess with Texas, indeed.

I had my first fire arm when I was 6 years old, as did my oldest son. I was raised by a military and police family and around firearms. From a very early age I was educated about weapon safety, in turn I educated my children, this is how I know they wont do anything stupid.

It’s not just the age of the child, it’s also the level of responsibility each child showed in general. There were three of us kids, in a family that was traditionally outdoors-oriented, military veterans mostly, and hunted for at least some of our own food. Being the oldest, I learned first, but Dad admitted it was as much the sense of responsibility I showed. My younger brother was right behind me…the youngest ultimately was not allowed to handle firearms at all. Smart parents have to be able to judge this in their children.
I didn’t see this show, but does anyone think ABC gave this a fair shake!

Only an actor would protest this way in a gun shop. People who visit gun shops are pretty much pro gun, pro 2nd amendment, etc. Those who would protest generally stay outside waving signs for media consumption..
