Robot Kills Volkswagen Factory Contractor, Grabs, Crushes Him

A German Volkswagen factory robot grabbed a 22 year old contractor installing the android on the assembly line and crushed his body against a metal plate, local newspaper theHessische Niedersaechsische Allgemeine reported.
The company believes that human error is to blame in the young mans death and not the result of manufacturer defect or a malfunctioning machine.
“Initial conclusions indicate that human error was to blame, rather than a problem with the robot, which can be programmed to perform various tasks in the assembly process”, VW Spokesman Heiko Hillwig said.
The state prosecutors’ office said it is investigating to rule out any criminal culpability, suggesting the robot would not be considered at fault or accountable for its random actions.
German news agency DPA reported that prosecutors were considering whether to bring charges, and if so, against whom.
It has not been declared whether Volkswagen plans to remove this android from its assembly line to extinguish any concerns.
