Chinese authorities are said to have “punished” 197 citizens for spreading what they call “online rumours”. This comes after citizen journalists and bloggers questioned the official narratives around the Tianjin explosion and more recently a suspected suicide that bloggers connected to the Chinese financial market woes.

China says it has punished 197 as part of a crackdown on citizens who spread unproven rumours on the internet.

The country’s Xinhua News Agency reported that 165 online accounts have been closed by authorities as part of the move.

Officials say those punished included people who circulated an inflated death toll in the country’s Tianjin blasts and who claimed a man committed suicide because of last week’s stock market crash.

They also said some people were punished for spreading rumours about upcoming commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two, which China marks on Thursday with a military parade through Beijing.

We shouldnt be surprised, especially coming from a country with some of the tightest censorship in the world, but this should be worrying to anyone that see’s the bigger picture here.

It’s not that long ago that David Cameron stood up in front of the UN and talked about conspiracy theorist being a “non-violent form of extremism”, so how long before we see similar measures in the UK and beyond?

This at a time when the alternative media and blogger’s are having overwhelming success at shining light on the lies and corruption of our governments, and that is no coincidence.

The article says that 165 accounts were closed as part of the punishment, but it doesn’t mention if this alone was punishment, or if in fact there were any bloggers etc sentenced to jail time. Jailed for daring to question the government? Would that honestly surprise you if they were?

If you dont think that this type of censorship can come here, then you had better wake up and wake up fast, for it was only last week that one of our own, and a previous guest on The Kev Baker Show, Chris Spivey, was given a 6 month suspended PRISON SENTENCE suspended for 2 years & BANNED FROM POSTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA for questioning the events surrounding the beheading of Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

An internet troll who claimed the murder of Lee Rigby was a conspiracy designed to provoke anti-Islamic feelings has been spared jail – but still refuses to accept he did anything wrong.

Grandfather Christopher Spivey, of Rochford, Essex, posted a series of comments on social media about Fusilier Rigby’s killing – including claiming the soldier had never existed and that the story of his murder was a conspiracy.

He also made direct contact with members of the Rigby family.

The 52-year-old denied harassment and sending grossly offensive messages over social media but was found guilty after a two-day trial at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. (Source…..HERE)

Whether you agree with the theories of people like Spivey, myself and others is irrelevant, its the fact that freedom of speech is now a thing of the past, unless you are spouting pre-approved truth that comes from the government or their puppets in the press.

Journalists, be they main stream, alternative, blogger’s or whoever must have the right to question the official narratives and hold to account those that are said to represent us.

Yet, in another example of the inversion of reality, we are actually living in a time where main stream media, the ones working as puppets for the elites, not only act as willing lap-dog to their masters, but are in fact allowed to put out fake stories in the name of propaganda!

Do all too many things in the news cycle just make you mad? Irritate you? Make you swear? Push your buttons? Likely enough, it happens all the time, and there’s a good reason why.

We are continually lied to and deceived by the mass media and our government institutions. Professionally crafted propaganda techniques to frame the story and, in many cases, to advance totally fabricated events, have been used to goad on the population and gain support for the State, even at the expense of what is best for the people.

Is not just that secretive agencies including the CIA are institutional liars, or that our elected representatives and selected officials operate as professional liars, there is a concerted effort to use “psyops” or psychological warfare against the people – to use emotion and distorted facts to control the opinions, and therefore the public attitude of of what is permissible among the general population. This has always been used by those in power, but technology and better understanding of mass psychology has made this very targeted. With a lifting of the ban on propaganda in 2013 it has also become officially legal in the age of the “cyber war” and “information operations” in which military and other personal consider public perception as part of their battlefield.

So its ok for our governments to lie to us, but if we dare to question them we are treated like criminals and terrorists!

China & North Korea is often pointed out as the most oppressive nation on the planet, and there are the horror stories of work camps and a population afraid to speak out, but the irony for me lies in the fact that out western governments criticise the Pyongyang regimes whilst at the same time admiring and craving the same tyrannical powers wielded by Kim John Un!

Finally, consider this….

This article, if written in China, would see me banned from posting on social media for life, at the very least. How long until the powers-that-shouldnt-be come after all of you just for reading it?
