If you install Windows 10 you can end up in jail

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Disturbing news, Microsoft says is reading and accessing all the content in your computer, mail, movies, data, audio, excel files, pictures, porn, pirated items, torrents, illegal speech, etc. and if they find something illegal, you will be accused as a criminal to FBI and local Police

The part about files is only if you use cloud storage like OneDrive, gDrive, etc. If you are using those, then you know you are giving up your privacy.

here is the statement:

“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to.”

Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do – here’s how to opt out

Windows 10 is amazing. Windows 10 is fantastic. Windows 10 is glorious. Windows 10 is faster, smoother and more user-friendly than any Windows operating system that has come before it. Windows 10 is everything Windows 8 should have been, addressing nearly all of the major problems users had with Microsoft’s previous-generation platform in one fell swoop.

But there’s something you should know: As you read this article from your newly upgraded PC, Windows 10 is also spying on nearly everything you do.

It’s your own fault if you don’t know that Windows 10 is spying on you. That’s what people always say when users fail to read through a company’s terms of service document, right?

Well, here is Microsoft’s 12,000-word service agreement. Some of it is probably in English. We’re pretty sure it says you can’t steal Windows or use Windows to send spam, and also that Microsoft retains the right to take possession of your first-born child if it so chooses. And that’s only one of several documents you’ll have to read through.

Actually, here’s one excerpt from Microsoft’s privacy statement that everyone can understand:
——————–

Finally, we will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to: 1.comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies; 2.protect our customers, for example to prevent spam or attempts to defraud users of the services, or to help prevent the loss of life or serious injury of anyone; 3.operate and maintain the security of our services, including to prevent or stop an attack on our computer systems or networks; or 4.protect the rights or property of Microsoft, including enforcing the terms governing the use of the services – however, if we receive information indicating that someone is using our services to traffic in stolen intellectual or physical property of Microsoft, we will not inspect a customer’s private content ourselves, but we may refer the matter to law enforcement.

———–

If that sentence sent shivers down your spine, don’t worry. As invasive as it is, Microsoft does allow Windows 10 users to opt out of all of the features that might be considered invasions of privacy. Of course, users are opted in by default, which is more than a little disconcerting, but let’s focus on the solution.

Rock Paper Shotgun has broken things down into four main bullet points that will guide you through regaining control of your personal data.

First, you’ll want to open Settings and click on Privacy. There, you’ll find 13 different screens — yes, 13 — to go through, and you’ll want to disable anything that seems worrying. The blog notes that most of the important settings can be found on theGeneral tab, though other tabs are important as well. For example, you’ll definitely want to adjust what types of data each app on your system can access.

Next, users should consider dumping Cortana. Yes, the voice-driven assistant iseasily one of the best new features in Windows 10, but it also plays fast and loose with your data. As a result, many users will find that the benefits do not outweigh the risks.

For the third task, you’ll have to venture outside the confines of your PC and hit the web. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to check out Microsoft’s nifty new Edge browser. In it, click on this link and set both “Personalised ads in this browser” and “Personalised ads wherever I use my Microsoft account” to off. This will disable Microsoft’s Google-style ad tracking features.

The last tip is one that most users will likely forgo, as it is a bit excessive. Rock Paper Shotgun recommends removing your Microsoft account from Windows 10 completely and using a newly made local account instead. This way, Microsoft doesn’t grab hold of all your data to sync it across machines. To us that’s a great and useful feature, but if you want to kill it just follow the link below in our source section for complete instructions and plenty more details.

      Microsoft is ransonware !

X-Box users are being told, not asked to update else nothing will play and in my case i turn windows 8 services off to stop my machine calling home to check the licence (also uploading god knows what) and i start getting these big blue screens ever hour going on about windows activation and needing to go to setting.

Well i just keep ignoring it but after a few weeks windows keeps freezing up for a few seconds about ever 40 seconds or so and take it from me it’s no virus kicking in apart from the usual windows virus.

If you want to be a remote terminal for microsoft then go for windows ten i say but if you can see whats coming then may i recomened Linux Mint that you can run from a pen drive to see if you like it.

      WARNING! yesterday before I turned off my computer, I updated the latest Microsoft updates! THEIR IS A ISSUE WITH IT! This morning when I turned it on, it “Invalided” my Microsoft 7 software! It said that I did not have a official version (which I DID), and my computer started to freeze up! It seems to me that this Microsoft update is to have everyone revalidate their KEYs. If you don’t, I expect them to blow the old versions off! (Update 2 Aug 2015)

What I did was go back and restored it to a earlier date and all went back to normal.

SO BEWARE! If this is a sign what is coming, they will blow away all the old KEYS and force everyone online to buy into the BS10! Just wanted to share what I experienced and please let me know if it happened to you, so others see what “GAME” they are playing….

You might start to see a few blue screens of death and then windows will want to send a report about the crash they coursed to themselves.

Don’t worry Windows will still work because the NSA does not want people to be running Linux even if they won’t pay for windows spyware or allow a hundred updates to install each month.

I won’t be paying to keep my ransom ware running and these blue scrrens that keep poping up to show a message about activating windows when it has already been activated just remind me that i should be using my Linux Mint a bit more often.

My mum always said never let people blackmail you and i have always stook to the plan

How to opt out of the NSA’s wet dream called Windows 10.. DON’T INSTALL IT!

  BLOCK 10 – HOW TO

If anyone is seeing 10 coming up to upgrade on your computer, they placed it this in one of their updates! If you installed this update, you will need to uninstall that update, and “hide” it so they stop bugging you about it.

#1 – If you don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10, or are indecisive right now, you may want to block updates and the Windows updates that are responsible for displaying the update notification on the system.

The first thing you need to do is remove updates that power these notifications. This is done in the following way:

Tap on the Windows-key on the keyboard, type programs and features, and hit enter. This opens the list of software installed on the system.
Switch to “view installed updates” on the left side of the window.
If you are using Windows 7, locate the following updates: 3035583, 2952664, 3021917
If you are using Windows 8, locate the following updates: 3035583, 2976978
Right-click one update after the other and select uninstall from the context menu.
Select Restart Later when the prompt appears and remove all updates first from the system.
Once done, restart the computer to complete the process.

#2 – To block these updates, do the following:

Tap on the Windows-key, type Windows Update, and hit enter.
This should open the Windows Update dialog.
Select “check for updates” to find new updates to install on the system. Windows should find the updates listed above again.
Click on the “important update is available” link.
Right-click each of the listed updates above that are listed on the page and select hide update from the context menu.
This blocks the update from being installed on the system.

        BLOCK IT FROM YOUR COMPUTER!

Funny. Anything you send or recieve over the internet without very strong encryption is accessible to the dozens of computers along the “highway” to the content you are transfering. Along those “highways” are numerous government agencies and companies acting on their behalf. In other words, everything you do is capable of being seen! And, since it’s in public space, they can look at it! This has been true from the very beginning.

      • DK

However it is sent as packets therefore because they get lost corrupted and choose different nodes to travel through to get to the destination the NSA does not get ALL the data, which is critical because the https protocol is encrypted, as is the link to your online email provider if you are wise. The NSA knows possibly who you are, it tracks your mobile, it can record your entire browsing history if your telcoms provider has a backdoor agreement with it however if they do not, most often the best they can hope for is meta data and a phone tap.

      what it actually says..

Windows 10 is part of the whole totalitarian tiptoe, and you’d probably have more privacy using a North Korean operating system than Windows 10. I have Windows 8 on a laptop I recently bought and I still hate it, and I still can’t figure it out. I don’t know what, specifically is supposed to make it better than XP Professional, which I have on my main machine. I can’t understand why the user interface has to be so radically different from XP since I never heard anyone complain about it. As soon as I make time for it, I fully intend to downgrade that laptop to XP or switch completely to Linux.
But here’s the thing, even XP was Big Brother software, and it took me quite a while to figure out how to stop it spying on me. First off, you should disable the Windows Firewall, and use a third-party proxy server. I use Proximotron, and it’s still good after all these years. Then, disable any “updates.” Third, pull up the list of “services” by going to the start menu, selecting “run” and putting in “msconfig” then selecting the “services” tab. Most of these so-called “services” can be disabled, but look up each of them to determine if you personally need it or not.
And also, if you want to keep Big Brother out of your life, don’t use GMail, Facebook, or Twitter. Turn off the wireless function on your switch and hook up all your machines to it with regular ethernet cables. The WiFi signal can be detected up to 300 metres, and I have verified this myself, even though all I have is a lowly Fritz!Box.

      • Sun Rabbit

Almost forgot. If you’re using Mozilla Firefox, get the add-on or extension named “NoScript.” It automatically stops any website from executing any scripts on your machine, which you can selectively permit as necessary. It’s great because you can see just how many webpages are trying to access your machine without your knowledge even if you only visit one webpage. When you use it, you’ll find that almost every page you go to has Facebook trying to run scripts and you definitely don’t want that. Also blocks quite a lot of annoying adware.

      • Overmind

Had 12 active services on out of over 120 when testing vista.
Same can be applied for all post-vista OSes.

        • VirusGuard

What you did not menthion is Srvhost was hosting 50 Dll’s at the time !!!!

ConHost, TaskHost and service houst are used to hide what would otherwise be processes on windows and i have good reason to think that not all process PID’s are displayed in task manager or returned by windows API calls back to programs that people write.

Without a hardware firewall we both know you are going bear back with the CIA/NSA and windows is the virus that allows them to be so good at the job

          • Sun Rabbit

You’re right because why else would it show you running 5-15 instances of svchohst. It’s camo for something that’s not returning a PID to the Task Manager, and many times you’ll have your system completely slow down, yet Task Manager shows you nothing out of the ordinary.
Disabling the Windows Firewall is only so that you can run your own (better) third-party firewall which could include a hardware one on your box (in my case, the Fritz! Box), and a proxy server, also third party.
And another thing, never go for any freebie anti-virus crap like McAffee or whatever. I use a paid antivirus named Vipre and it catches everything.

    • Jacko

It’s not just windows 10 spying on you. Microsoft-update ring a bell? But then, what do you expect from a proprietary OS. Just use Linux, it’ll keep you safer.

    • spaniel

This may not be the answer that many want to hear…..the solution is not to use Microsoft, and use Linux instead, when possible. Learn and use both operating systems.

      • Dustdevil

Yeah, I love reading the ‘my god, I hate Microsoft, I just installed Win xxx and it is now sucking the soul out of my children, I hope that Microsoft fixes this problem in their next OS release!’

Seriously people, I know you like voting in corrupt politicians, hiring evil teachers, paying exorbitant taxes, but the least you could do is see spyware for what it is and format your computer to install Ubuntu 14. Your computer will be twice as fast, it takes at most, a couple of days to re-learn, and you don’t have to worry about Windows or Microsoft again.

Plus, you get the added comfort of knowing that the Powers-That-Be will not release a wild-weasel virus into the Linux community, because first of all, very few (and I mean only in theory) viruses exist for the UNIX kernel, because of how it works. They would never potentially corrupt their money-system computers (most big banks run UNIX or AS400) just to push you back to Microsoft’s spyOS. And best of all, Ubuntu 14 is free, comes with LibreOffice (as good as Word or GoogleDocs, anyday, and you get the Word, Spreadsheet, Database, Powerpoint, PDF, Project equivalents in the Office Pro package – FOR FREE!!!). Most all of your hardware drivers are available online for your printers, scanners, cameras, etc.

Why keep tolerating Windows? Install Ubuntu, crush Microsoft. They can’t apparently hear you or learn any other way. Shut them down from no business demand, and watch them be destroyed. You know you want to.

      Depopulate.

To test if they’re spying, invite a group of WINDOWS TEN enthusiasts to implement a protocol of files that contain information that would be considered catastrophic. Not that they subscribe to actions, but are receptive to having such a file residing on their system. This file would say something ludicrous such as the person warehouses over 100 handguns, ammunition, and is completely in disagreement with government. So long as these people remain alive or accounted for, you can enjoy WIN10, but ditch it at the second one of those people disappear:)

I can see this having a backlash effect with people switching to Linux or downgrading to XP. Now that I think about it, the best Microsoft OS was DOS 5.0. It NEVER crashed, was pretty quick, and simple to use. It wasn’t too long ago that I was running DOS 5 and running MetaStock on it, as well as XYwrite, WordStar, dBase, FoxPro, Quattro Pro, Arachne, and TK Solver, all on a 120 MB HDD. In other words it’s not out of the question that some of the retro-computing fans could come up with a way to use it with today’s internet.
Time to get my framed Windows 98 Power User certificate from BrainBench dusted off.
The problem with Microsoft is that every version is just the previous version with added modules, so basically even if you’re using Windows 10, you’re really just using a souped up version of CP/M, or Dr. DOS depending on which evolutionary chronology you accept. In other words, little effort was ever made to overhaul the previous version or to streamline the existing modules and integrate them with the new ones, that’s why the program sizes just kept increasing. That’s not evolution, that’s building a tower of Babel.
Programming languages, on the other hand HAVE evolved, going from C to C++, to Python, to Perl and Java, and you can’t really compare any of them in terms of functionality. With Windows, I’m just running a newer and bulkier version of Windows so I can run a newer and bulkier version of MetaStock. Same difference.
This isn’t the fault of the programmers, but of Microsoft because in many instances the programmers were not allowed to look at the parsed “proprietary” code of the older versions so as to make a truly new version, in part because it would show the world that the software is held together with coat-hanger wire and duct tape.
That’s one of the reasons I never bought any Microsoft stock, and if I had any I’d sell it because Linux (and a couple of smaller OSs like Minix, GNU, or BSD) are real-world proof that open source is the way to go, and that Microsoft’s days are numbered. Microsoft must know this as well, and that’s why they basically turned state’s evidence and are luring people into their trap with free Windows 10. And for people who are really nostalgic about Windows but want to switch to Linux, there’s a whole host of Windows emulators out there like WINE, or Lindows, so they got no reason to whine about that.
Speaking of Wine, maybe someone could come up with a Whiskey OS (hmm.. what about Windows Hi-speed Internet Software Kernel Emulator)?

Windows 10 is an awesome OS . As for the spying , yes , You should open Privacy window and turn off a lot of the features/settings. Those who prefer Linux , might consider double booting.

    • janetspillows

I had reserved Windows 10, but when I read that they can basically watch your every move and know all your business I cancelled. What is happening to our world? We no longer have our freedom.
