The change was first reported by US officials speaking on condition of anonymity with the Wall Street Journal Sunday. The first airstrikes to protect American trainees in Syria have already taken place on Friday, July 31, when the US Air Force bombed unidentified militants who attacked the compound of the US-trained rebels.

So far the fighter jets of the anti-Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) US-led coalition have been bombing jihadist targets in Syria’s north and the national air defense units were turning a blind eye to foreign military aircraft in their airspace.

The Kremlin said that US airstrikes against Syrian troops would further destabilize the situation.

Last week, it became abundantly clear that Turkey’s newfound zeal for accelerating the demise of Islamic State is motivated chiefly by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s desire to nullify a ballot box victory by the pro-Kurdish HDP, which grabbed 13% of the vote and won party representation last month in an election that also saw AKP lose its absolute majority for the first time in over a decade.

Now, Erdogan looks set to call for new elections as “efforts” to build a coalition government have largely failed. As WSJ noted last week, Erdogan needs but a two percentage-point swing to restore AKP’s absolute majority, which would in turn make “concessions demanded by its potential coalition partners on press freedom, corruption prosecutions and foreign policy unnecessary.” It would also “allow Erdogan to proceed with controversial plans to turn Turkey into a presidential republic and solidify his personal power.”

A military expert hailed the Syrian army’s recent victories against the foreign-backed terrorists, and said that the new military gains in Hama and Idlib provinces are prelude to large-scale battles targeting the militants across the country.

A couple of days ago in the Palestinian village of Duma, Ali Dawabsha, an 18-month-old toddler died as a result of an arson committed by Israeli settlers, who deliberately torched the house while the family was asleep. Ali’s mother and father are in critical condition, with burns over 80-90% of their bodies.

This is not the first time — certainly will not be the last time — that these Israeli criminal trespassers and Jewish terrorists torched and set fire to people, homes, farms, churches and mosques. They do it with impunity under the ever-watchful guard of the Israel Defence Force. Simply put, these Jewish trespassers get away with murder and other crimes.
