NATO’s large-scale military exercises in Europe look like an operation to cover Kiev’s military actions in south-east Ukraine, a senior Russian lawmaker from the upper house of parliament said Wednesday.

Konstantin Kosachyov, the head of the Federation Council’s international affairs committee, commented on the start of the North Atlantic alliance’s air drills, the biggest since the end of the cold war, on Facebook.

The U.S. has announced that is is launching the largest allied airborne drills since the Cold War in Europe as the fighting in the Ukraine increases. 
  

“The US sanctions are no concern of ours,” Lavrov told journalists in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol on Wednesday, emphasizing that Moscow stands only by its own international commitments.“Above all, with regard to sanctions, this is the decision of the UN Security Council. All other unilateral restrictions imposed bypassing the Security Council in violation of the general norms of the international law are of no interest to us,” he said.

The remarks by the top Russian diplomat came one day after John Kirby, US State Department spokesman, said that Washington is concerned about the delivery of the defense system to Tehran despite the fact the move does not violate any UN Security Council resolutions.

At least 30 killed in massive explosion near hospital in Syria ~ link ~ 

Dozens of people have reportedly been killed in a huge bomb explosion targeting pro-government forces in southwestern Syria.

The bomb attack on Wednesday hit a hospital in Harasta, a town located around 10 kilometers from the capital Damascus in Rif Dimashq, killing at least 30 people and injuring tens of others, Sky News Arabia reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking every step to enable Iran to defend itself in the event of an attack by Israel should the US Congress reject the nuclear agreement in mid-September, a former US Senate candidate says. “I think Mr. Putin is taking whatever steps he can take to ensure that the Iranians would be in a better position to defend themselves in the event that Israel has something up its sleeves” after the September vote, said Mark Dankof, who is also a broadcaster in San Antonio, Texas. 

In an interview with Press TV on Wednesday, Dankof said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would “do everything he can to subvert this agreement in the United States Congress.”
The nuclear agreement was reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries — the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany – after months of tough negotiations in Vienna last month.

Under the agreement, restrictions will be put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic. Netanyahu will have other plans to subvert “this arrangement into the way of false flag incidence that would be blamed falsely on Iran that would create a pretext for an Israeli and or American war against Iran. That would be a great tragedy,” said Dankof.

Russia is deploying new advanced air defense system to the Arctic border area with USA ~ link ~ Every single day, now, there are more and more reports of increased military steps towards WWIII.  Stirling  
 
The Pentagon says Russia is deploying new air defense systems to strategic areas near its border with the US and Norway; weapon systems that are modified for the harsh Arctic environment.
The US Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) released a report in August, saying that Moscow is looking to place short-to-medium range antiaircraft SA-22 Pantsir-S1 battalions at Murmansk by the Norwegian border and at unspecified locations in the east of Russia facing both the US and Japan.

The twin-barreled Pantsir is a staple of Russian air defense, according to the report. It has a range of upwards of 19 miles and can function in temperatures as low as -58 degrees Farenheit, FMSO said.
The Pantsir can also “protect the defended asset from ground-based and water surface-based threats,” RIA Novosti reported.

The plans involve the opening of ten Arctic search-and-rescue stations, 16 deep-water ports, 13 airfields, and 10 air-defense radar stations across its Arctic periphery.

The cases confirmed by the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) come from blockaded Yarmouk refugee camp in the south of Damascus, which houses displaced Palestinian refugees and Syrian civilians. Over 200 medical consultations have been carried out.

According to Gunness, more than 95 percent of Palestinian refugees in the camp rely on the UNRWA to provide them with daily supplies of food, water, and healthcare.“Women are dying in childbirth due to a lack of medicine, children are reduced to eating grass because there is no food, and the main water supply hasn’t been functional since last September,” Gunness said. “Never has the imperative for sustained humanitarian access been greater,” he added.

Originally built for Palestinians fleeing the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, the camp was home to around 160,000 Palestinians before the Syrian conflict began in 2011. There were 18,000 refugees in the camp when IS militants attacked in April, though several thousand have fled since then, according to Gunness. The refugee agency also noted “credible reports” of a typhoid outbreak in additional areas of the region, including others in Yarmouk, Yalda, Babila, and Beit Sahem.
