Quick-thinking Canadian kid credited for saving kidnapped woman (VIDEO)

17-year-old Malyk Bonnet is being called a hero after his quick-thinking and smooth-talking skills helped to save a woman who was being held against her will by her ex-boyfriend in Laval, Quebec, earlier this month.

Bonnet was headed home after finishing his shift as a cook at a restaurant when he saw the couple standing near the bus stop arguing.

“The guy was screaming at her, the girl. He wasn’t really gentle with her, and I started watching, because I thought he would hit her,” Bonnet said.

After watching for a bit, he slowly approached the couple before the man asked Bonnet for bus fare. Sensing the woman was in danger, Bonnet agreed and hung around to see if he could get a moment alone with her, which soon came with the woman telling Bonnet how terrified she was because the man would not let her leave.

Unbeknown to Bonnet at the time, police were already searching for the 29-year-old woman and the man, who was described as “very dangerous.” The man previously made death threats against the woman and ignored a court order prohibiting contact with her.

So Bonnet took the bus with the couple, agreeing to give the man more money once they got to their destination, but the entire time Bonnet was “playing a game” with the man, gaining his trust, while waiting for the opportune moment to call the police.

Eventually, Bonnet convinced the couple to go to a local restaurant where he would buy them dinner and give them money for groceries. While at the restaurant, Bonnet made his move and called the police, who arrived within minutes.

Even after authorities arrived, the man was unaware Bonnet was the one who called the police, but the look on the woman’s face when they arrived was priceless, according to the teen.

When reporters questioned him about being called a hero, Bonnet admitted he’s nobody special, just a normal guy who thinks it’s cool he was able to help save the woman’s life.
