Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Attorneys Ask 9th Circuit Court to Disqualify Judge
On August 7, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s attorneys asked the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to prevent U.S, District Judge Murray Snow from overseeing a racial profiling case against Arpaio due to Snow’s alleged personal disdain for the Sheriff.
Breitbart News previously reported that Snow’s wife allegedly told an old acquaintance that her husband “hates” Sheriff Arpaio and “will do anything to get [him] out of office.” In light of that revelation, Arpaio’s attorneys asked that Snow recuse himself from the case. But on July 24 Snow announced he had no intention of stepping down and ordered U.S Marshals to go to Arpaio’s office to seize documents and computer hard drives.
Now Arpaio’s attorneys are asking the 9th Circuit to intervene.
According to CBS 5, Arpaio’s attorneys told the 9th Circuit that Snow “created the appearance of bias when he questioned Arpaio about two secret investigations involving the judge that were done on the sheriff’s behalf.” One of those was an investigation that dealt with the “claim that the judge’s wife had allegedly told someone that Snow didn’t want Arpaio to win re-election.”
No timeframe for when the 9th Circuit might respond to Arpaio’s request has been released.
