Shreveport police offer reward for Glock stolen from murdered officer

Shreveport authorities are offering a $3,000 reward for a Glock pistol stolen from an officer who was killed in the line of duty, according to an Aug. 20 announcement from police.
Investigators have been searching for the firearm ever since the shooting death of a Shreveport police officer on Aug. 5 and think the suspect responsible for the incident stole the gun.
Shreveport police said that Officer Thomas LaValley, 29 years old and a four-year veteran of the force, was shot multiple times while answering a call about a suspicious person inside a home.
Neighbors told LaValley that the man inside the home was wanted, but they did not know that the man was armed. When he went inside, the suspect, 27-year old Grover Cannon, opened fire.
Officer Thomas LaValley, 29, was a four-year veteran of the force. He was laid to rest on Aug. 7.
After an intense two-day manhunt, authorities arrested Cannon without incident. He’s being charged with one count of first degree murder, one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The firearm is described as a semi-automatic Glock 22 .40 caliber pistol. The Shreveport Police Department is offering $2,500 in addition to $500 put forth by Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers for information that directly leads to the recovery of LaVAlley’s issued sidearm.
