British General Threatens ‘Mutiny’ If New Labour Leader Is Elected Prime Minister

When West Point professor William C. Bradford was forced to resign earlier this month for authoring several controversial articles, the media gave special attention to one of his papers titled ‘Alea Iacta Est: The U.S. Coup of 2017.’ In it, he explained the conditions that would be required for the US military to overthrow our government. The alarming article prompted YouGov to poll a thousand Americans, and ask them how they felt about a military takeover of the US. It turns out that a shocking 29% of the population could imagine a scenario, where they would support a military coup.

But considering recent events, perhaps that UK-based polling organization should turn their attention towards their own countrymen. After leftist politician Jeremy Corbyn was elected Leader of the Labour Party, an unnamed general serving with the British military contacted the Sunday Times, and essentially threatened a coup if Corbyn was ever elected Prime Minister.

The unnamed general said members of the armed forces would begin directly and publicly challenging the labour leader if he tried to scrap Trident, pull out of Nato or announce “any plans to emasculate and shrink the size of the armed forces.”

He told the Sunday Times: “The Army just wouldn’t stand for it. The general staff would not allow a prime minister to jeopardise the security of this country and I think people would use whatever means possible, fair or foul to prevent that. You can’t put a maverick in charge of a country’s security.

“There would be mass resignations at all levels and you would face the very real prospect of an event which would effectively be a mutiny.”

Aside from the fact that Corbyn has previously made calls to disarm the military, pull out of NATO, and remove the UK’s nuclear deterrent, his opinion of the IRA seems to be especially troubling for members of the armed forces.

The general, who served in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, said he and many soldiers were sickened by Mr Corbyn’s refusal to condemn the IRA, which killed 730 troops and injured 7,000 more during the conflict.

His shadow chancellor, John McDonnell, was forced to apologise when it was revealed he had called for IRA members, including hunger striker Bobby Sands, to be honoured by the British government.

The general said: “Many soldiers are disgusted by the comments of Corbyn and John McDonnell [about] the IRA — men who have not only murdered British soldiers but also hundreds of members of their own community.”

In fact, there is already a small rebellion brewing since Corbyn was elected. Several intelligence chiefs have since claimed that he will only receive “restricted access” to intel, due to his sympathies with organizations like the IRA, Hezbollah, and Hamas. In addition to this, former security minister Admiral Lord West has threatened to resign if Corbyn is too weak of defense.

While it’s hard to imagine a coup ever taking place in Western nations like the US and the UK, these recent events should give pause to every British and American citizen that wants to maintain what little freedoms they have left. The fact that military coups are becoming a common point of discussion in the West, where they were once considered laughable, suggests that a frightening cultural shift has occurred.
