Newly Released Secret Footage Exposes More Shocking Cruelty to Chickens

Secret footage from inside a Tyson chicken slaughterhouse operation in Texas was just released by the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) as part of an investigation into animal cruelty and the exploitation of workers at these factory farming operations. The footage is naturally quite unsettling and features workers of the plant under identity protection discussing the work environment at the slaughterhouse.

“The overall attitude towards the chickens at the Tyson plant is that they were thought of as objects and not living and feeling beings… they were nothing more than a commodity. It didn’t seem to matter to anyone if the chickens were hurt or killed in the pre-slaughter process. It was just part of ‘business.’”- Anonymous ALDF Investigator

The disturbing video also features morbid footage of chickens being terribly mistreated with the most robotic, soulless cruelty you can imagine. The ALDF is pursuing legal action on behalf of workers in Tyson facilities who are working in extremely unreasonable conditions.

“ALDF is asking the attorney general of the state of Delaware, where Tyson Foods is incorporated, to “investigate and sanction the company.” ALDF has also filed three complaints against Tyson Foods with three different government agencies—the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

With the USDA filing, ALDF is “asking the agency to enforce basic food safety regulations outlined in the Poultry Products Inspection Act.” Its complaint with OSHA cites “unsafe working conditions for employees, including repetitive motion stress injuries and the high risk of being maimed and/or injured by the rapidly moving conveyor belts.”

ALDF believes “Tyson’s expectations of line speeds—140 chickens per minute—and number of birds processed per day up to 250,000—are unrealistic to physically meet, leading workers to putting quotas ahead of animal welfare, food safety regulations, and their own personal safety.”” [Source]

This is the truth that the meat and grocer’s industry does not want you to see, which is why Ag-Gag laws are being enacted around the world. They really want to keep this hidden from the public and are willing to prosecute activists as criminals for merely filming the horrors of confined animal feeding operation (CAFO’s.) and sharing them with the public.

After coming to the conclusion that the type of farming he was doing was inhumane, cruel and torturous, unsustainable and untenable, he invited a film crew onto his property for a first hand look at the conditions of his animals.”

The spiritual link between the food we eat and the behavior we exhibit is established by those taken control of their diet. By forcing the world to eat from a supply of food that has been tortured and treaten with such cruelty has a strongly negative impact on the human society we are constantly re-creating.

The public is fond of arguing over the merits of various dieting fads, but the real debate about food should be centered around how we treat the food that we do depend on for nourishment.
