North Dakota Just Authorized Police Use of “Less-than-Lethal” Weaponized Drones

How do you feel about police in modern America using tasers and tear gas against the citizenry? How is that working out for us?

Well, now the state of North Dakota has granted police the ability to legally deploy taser and tear gas-equipped drones against the people.

HB 1328 was originally supposed to be about placing stricter limits on law enforcement use of drones but… nope. Thanks to a nice little amendment that got tacked on by a drone lobbyist, North Dakota has officially passed a bill allowing the cops to add weaponized drones to their arsenal.

Bruce Burkett, a lobbyist employed by the North Dakota Peace Officer’s Association, was given a green light by Republican legislative leaders to tack an amendment onto Becker’s bill that limited the restriction to “less than lethal” weapons. (The congressional drone lobby is equally as powerful and funded by the vehicles’ manufacturers, as well).

Burkett’s betrayal of the bill’s original intent resulted in North Dakota becoming the first state to grant such expansive power to police.

“Less-than-lethal,” as we all know, is not “non-lethal”. Tasers have killed people, and drones will make that potential danger a lot less personal. It’s pretty clear where this slippery slope is headed.

So while the mainstream media is scaremongering over the personal use of hobby drones and how dangerous they are to low-flying aircraft… meanwhile states are beginning to put weaponized drones in the hands of the burgeoning, militarized American police state.
