The Horrific Legacy of the Real Christopher Columbus. Parental Discretion is Advised!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Happy Adolph Hitler Day everybody.  Oh, it’s Columbus Day?  Well, given the character and actions of each man, isn’t that about the same?  Let’s take a look.

Sources:

All of the information in this essay came from A People’s History of the United States, by Howard Zinn, and Lies My Teacher Told Me, by James W. Loewen, both of which uses primary sources such as eyewitness accounts, journal entries, and letters from Christopher Columbus himself.

A very important note about Bartolomé de las Casas and the African slave trade

This issue keeps coming up and, despite my footnotes, I keep seeing commentary about it so I’m going to address it here.
Initially, Bartolomé de las Casas advocated the use of African slaves instead of native labor. In the first few years after he renounced his land and title, his initial cause was to end the suffering of the natives, rather than seeking an end to the institution of slavery itself, and so this became his deplorable rationale for the endorsement of African slavery. Bartolomé de las Casas eventually retracted those views, however, and came to see all forms of slavery as being equally wrong. In The History of the Indies published in 1527, he wrote the following:

I soon repented and judged myself guilty of ignorance. I came to realize that black slavery was as unjust as Indian slavery…
and I was not sure that my ignorance and good faith would secure me in the eyes of God.

I know that the discovery of the New World means a lot of different things to a lot of different cultures. I like the sound of Bartolomé Day. If you don’t like that, call it Indigenous People’s Day. Or perhaps Chris-Columbus-was-a-turd Day. I’d even settle for just calling it MONDAY.

But please, oh please

do not call it Columbus Day.

UPDATE!

Less than a year after the publication of this comic, Columbus Day was renamed to Indigenous People’s Day in Seattle. I love you, Seattle. This is why after all these years we’re still best buds and I still drink your coffee and run on your mountains.

Good read, great info on the truth about Columbus. However, the author needs to get to know the real Abraham Lincoln too.

    • 0773H

Very good story. I would like to add what I found, when researching history of Columbus. First he had a knights Templar cross on the sails of his ship. He was 800 miles off course when he landed at Plymouth Rock. Which I do not believe that was an accident and here is why. They first encountered an English speaking Indian, which was said to have visited England. The Indians whole tribe was wiped put by a strange illness, similar to the small pox we gave later to other Indian tribes. So all that Land was conveniently vacant. So I believe that everything was planned for Columbus’s landing. It was never about another route to China.

      • mar tarb

Columbus didn’t land on Plymouth Rock. That was 130 years later, with the Pilgrims.

        • Anonymous

Not at beforeitsnews. Around here, he landed in Ohio in an alien craft and was the second shooter on the grassy knoll.

    • Pink Slime

You should see what they are saying about Lincoln. The lies are all coming apart now. All done for political purposes and agenda. Not history at all.

    • Ecclesia Militans

Lies lies lies about the Columbus the good.

      • Brandon

and how do you know where u there???????? AH!

    • TSM

Columbus didn’t discover America, the native Americans discovered Columbus…..lost at sea!!

      • Pink Slime

And what were the natives doing on land floating between the Atlantic and the Pacific?

        • TSM

Pink Slime eh!, does your handle somehow describe the contents of your head by any chance??

    • The Truth Wins

Oh I have no doubt that Columbus was not the first European/African/Asian to discover America. There is much evidence that the Vikings, Chinese and even the Egyptians and Carthaginians were here first. Columbus definitely sailed under the Knights Templar cross for some reason. Did he and his men commit all of these atrocities? I don’t know that without some further investigations. Of course King Ferdinand and his queen Isabella were major anti-Semites and partnered with the Pope to torture, murder and persecute Jews in Spain around the time of Columbus’ voyage.

If he did so, it sounds hauntingly similar to what we (the Anglo American, D.C./London/Vatican Alliance) are currently still doing to nations such as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Ukraine etc. in the name of resource pilfering, establishing central banks and killing innocent people. “There is nothing new under the sun” King Solomon once wrote eloquently.

    • ReformedII

      WOW!

You debunk Columbus and use Lincoln & MLK as the counter  !

ANOTHER poster idiot for the WILLFUL [That means they did it on purpose!] dumbing down of American education!

That show of ignorance calls into question  every other assertion you make  !

According to what I read a number of years ago, Columbus Day was started to promote the new railway when it was built. The question arose of who would use it. A plan was devised to create a holiday and promote it so that workers in the new factories would travel to the seashore on the new railway. Since a majority of factory workers were Italian, the misguided idea of creating a day to honour Columbus was devised. To this day, nobody really knows who Columbus was. He remains an historical man of mystery.

Some of the information in this article may be a regurgitation of the anti-Spain propaganda published by crypto jews who fled Spain when their treason was discovered. They were taken in and encouraged by William of Orange. They created some the most horrific, scurrilous lies to discredit everything Spanish. Many of them are included in this article.

We must bear in mind that Henry VIII and Martin Luther had revolted against the Church of Rome and Spain was still Catholic. Hatred of everything Catholic was rampant and Catholics were accused of all sorts of heinous crimes that go on to this day.

We must also remember that slavery was common in those times (slavery is from the word SLAV because so many Slavic people were kidnapped and sold as “slaves”). White slaves were used in the British colonies extensively, long before the African slaves were utilized. And black slave were treated better than white slaves because the purchasers paid more for them. The white slaves were referred to as rednecks and crackers and were abused more than black slaves. The English have a horrific track record as slavers, but created euphemistic terms to air brush their activities: poor houses, work houses, debtors prisons, chimney sweeps and child labor in factories (including in the Colonies).

In addition to knowing your history, it is important to know the context in which it was written.

      • LifeIs

Columbus didn’t find or deal with Aztecs. He encountered some Mayans. But mostly he was in the Caribbean. And our information about his atrocities comes from a contemporary Spanish source, a man who was in the Caribbean and in Mexico. Bartolomé de las Casas.

I really don’t think the Spanish priests (apart from Bartolomé de las Casas) were capable of being shocked by anything. They endorsed murder, mass murder, torture, mutilation, slavery, child rape, child slavery.

      • Brandon

        Right On Brother!!!

    • Anonymous

Columbus wasn’t his real name, and he was a Jew hunting for gold on behalf of his Jewish slave-trading masters. The Jews have always been on the hunt for gold, land, wealth, power and property. They are sadistically cruel and care noting for the human race.

    • Anonymous

Go back to that time and compare Columbus and his behavior to what the peoples of America were doing. The native were far worse.

    • starzulu

And that’s the celebrated history of the White man… Everywhere he has gone he has plundered, murdered and pillaged. Even today in the middle East. they are invading, murdering and destroying all in the name of oil.

      • Brandon

        Your an IDIOT!

    • Болеслава

Thanks. So what you’re saying is that the current politicians are true to tradition. Doesn’t help.

    • freedom007

No Bs, Brendon. Bitter truth. The European conquerors and colonizers of later generations / centuries, however, were no better; nor were Arab conquerors and slave-traders who, for example, in the region known today as Sudan, habitually kidnapped whole villages of black people for slavery.
Conquest / colonization is always inhumane.
It requires a wrong, despising, negative image of the native inhabitants of the region you wish to conquer. It is organized criminality on the level of whole States.

In fact, all warfare that exceeds the demands of a state´s self-defense is mass murder and mass organized crime.
I am sure ALL world leaders of today know that, even the Chinese who are so proud of “not having the Bible”; but not even our Western leaders act accordingly.

It sounds cynical, and it is perhaps already dangerous  to write such a thing on an US web site,
but one got to see the truth:
      the US government wages wars
that exceed the needs of US / NATO self-defense much more
than Putin´s military activities exceed the self-defense need of Russia.

And the only Western country that did not commit any organized crimes by aggressive warfare is Switzerland. They need no warfare therer – they got less bloody ways to extract gold and goods from the world…

Oh Lord send us a big, BIG broom to wipe all this filth out of your beautiful Garden Earth!

Columbus isn’t celebrated as a canonized saint, but as an intrepid explorer and historical figure whose discovery of the New World brought the reality of its existence into the consciousness of civilized Europeans.

Anyone who thinks Columbus wasn’t intrepid should try sailing the North Atlantic in a small wooden boat, as my ancestors did in 1654 when they helped colonize the New World. When I myself sailed the North Atlantic on a US Navy aircraft carrier — the FORRESTAL CVA-59 — our ship encountered 28-foot seas and the 70,000-ton vessel was frequently half under water.

No matter what Columbus supposedly did or didn’t do, the so-called “native” North, Central and South American Indians did infinitely worse, slaughtering and cannibalizing each other. Their favorite food delicacy was human bone marrow. And their pagan altars ran red with the blood of countless thousands of human victims who were killed by having their beating hearts cut out of their chests.

The author of the above article is a blow-hard sack of crap who can’t separate fact from fiction. He doesn’t deserve to be honored, whereas Columbus definitely does.
