CNN are reporting that a number of Russian cruise missiles have come down in Iran after being fired at targets in Syria from missile cruisers in the Caspian Sea. Is this an accident, or could it be the west jamming them with Electronic Warfare equipment – if so, where does that put us on the road to war?

A number of cruise missiles launched from a Russian ship and aimed at targets in Syria have crashed in Iran, two U.S. officials told CNN Thursday.
Monitoring by U.S. military and intelligence assets has concluded that at least four missiles crashed as they flew over Iran. One official said there may be casualties, but another official said this is not yet known.
It’s unclear where in Iran the missiles landed. The Russian ships have been positioned in the south Caspian Sea, meaning the likely flight path for missiles into Syria would cross over both Iran and Iraq.
The Russians have been firing a relatively new cruise missile called “Kaliber,” using it for the first time in combat.
The assessment came as Defense Secretary Ashton Carter warned Thursday at NATO headquarters in Brussels that Russia would likely suffer casualties “within the coming days” as it deepens its military involvement in Syria.
Carter also took rhetorical aim at Moscow Thursday, calling out Russia for “increasingly unprofessional behavior” after a Russian fighter jet violated Turkish airspace earlier this week and after Russia launched missiles into Syria from the Caspian Sea “without warning.”
While Carter again pointed to the need for an agreement on “professional safety procedures” to avoid accidents in Syrian skies between Russian and U.S.-led sorties, which are taking aim at ISIS, he stressed that the U.S. would not cooperate militarily at a strategic level with Russia.
“We have not and will not agree to cooperate with Russia so long as they continue to pursue this misguided strategy,” he said earlier in the week. “It remains our hope that Russia will see that tethering itself to a sinking ship is a losing strategy because Russia has the opportunity to change course and do the right thing. I don’t know if they will.”
In Rome earlier in his trip, Carter described to a “tragically flawed” Russian strategy in Syria, where Russian military actions appear increasingly aimed at bolstering the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad in his struggle against rebel forces and less at fighting ISIS.
U.S. and Russian military officials have yet to establish a reliable communication channel to avoid potentially tragic accidents between Russian and U.S.-led forces operating in Syrian airspace.

No i don’t think they were jammed…Russia is using their “new” missiles …from the report the other day their accuracy wasn’t all that hot..like out of 24 or so missiles, may not be accurate but close, only like 11 hit their targets. Guidance failure if you ask me ..of the missile itself.
You should know by now the msm gov . news blames russia for everything. The lies run deep.
As the post below states, these are new missiles, and they are not very good. The Russians have a history of producing military hardware that looks great on paper, and then performs poorly on the battlefield.
I would not count on your statement as being factual. America gets much more practice war mongering than the Russians do.
Yea, like when the small outmatched Russian tanks destroyed the large top of the line German Panzers.
Or when the Chinese ship a few years ago, surfaced in the middle of the 7th. Fleet beside their Aircraft Carrier, using Russia’s new sub silent coatings.
Or when the US Naval Ship was cruising near Crimea and a Russian plane flew over and knocked out all their radar for their guns and aiming devices.

Russia’s Defense Ministry denies US media reports of an alleged incident involving cruise missiles which were fired at ISIL positions in Syria on October 7, stating that all missiles hit their designated targets.
“No matter how unpleasant and unexpected for our colleagues in the Pentagon and Langley was yesterday’s high-precision strike on Islamic State infrastructure in Syria, the fact remains that all missiles launched from our ships have found their targets,” ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

I won’t trust this report until it comes out directly from Iranian news agency. The US looks so bad right now with the report of the hospital bombing in Afghanistan. You never know who is cooking this kind of stories.
We do know. CNN is a propaganda operation of the US government.
Iran and Russia have both said the story is not true.
I tried to confirm this (Iran and Russia deny hospital bombing story) with a few Google searches, LifeIs. However, I find nothing. Can you link to something substantive please?

Interestingly i also tried looking up the official word out of Tehran but alas they won’t let me troll their MODAFL unlike the Russians who were very welcoming.
Either way we have O-bam-bam’s apology, on the Afghani affair, and it’s recommended that the world just lets it go at that because “stuff happens” according to the gubernatorial administration.
I agree with you 100%, truthseeker 4809. I, too, am waiting for a report out of Iran – the country most affected if the missiles did come down. Until we have a second cross-report, then this story is suspect, imo.

You seem to had fogot that Russia took out all the electronics on the mc douglas war ship in the black sea about a year ago and then did 12 dummy attack runs on the ship as it lay standing like a dead duck.

Russia takes all the big parts up to the ISS because the US cannot do it and the US has more rockets going bang on take off than russia has so don’t be taken in by a pack of lies.
Lets see some satalite images of the crash zones and not just wishfull thinking from some nob head in the USA or Isreal.
The more prominent concern should be, since Russia is shooting these missiles at targets in Syria without prior warning to the other forces that are operating in the skies and on the ground in Syria, what happens when a US fighter jet, or maybe an Israeli jet gets accidentally knocked out of the sky by a Russian missile? The likelihood of this happening is not as small as you might think simply because all the mentioned parties are targeting the same areas. What happens when a Russian missile goes off target and hit a US convoy? Russian missile technology has not been very reliable. Russia is also targeting groups that the USA have trained and are supplying. What happens when they kill US troops while delivering supplies? The situation on the ground in Syria is a recipe for disaster. a view missiles that missed Syria and landed in Iran is by far not the worst case scenario.
Look at the distance between Syria and Iran. You really believe a Russian cruise missile would miss by THAT far? Much less more than one of them. Even the Iranians don’t believe those were Russian missiles. We know who’s trying to stir stuff up in the middle east.
Unprofessional behavior is bombing doctors and nurses in a hospital. That is what unprofessional behavior is even when the hospital called immediately to US authorities to stop the bombing and it continued for hours.
The 4 missiles that supposedly dropped is most likely propaganda since the US has lost face with the debacle in Afghanistan. The report was from an unnamed anonymous source. Additionally, if a satellite system really saw it crash it should say where it crash. IRAN has said it is propaganda. CNN is the most well known propaganda outlet. It is well known that Anderson Cooper worked for CIA at one time in his career.
The allusion to IRAN is just a wish that missiles would actually drop in IRAN – perhaps part of a PSYOPS.
The US USSR proxy war in Syria is far from over yet and the discovery of all that oil in the Golan is the reason for it. ISIS has nothing to do with it, except for presenting both sides with a reasonable presidency to be there.
Russia wants to save the Butcher Assad, increase its influence in the middle east and force Israel to relinquish the Golan Heights. Should Russia carry the day we can expect unbearable pressure on Israel in the near future, forcing them to withdraw from the Golan. This is the reason why they consider any opposition to the current Syrian regime legitimate targets, also the so called “moderate Muslim fighters” funded, trained and armed by the USA. As soon as ISIS is defeated in Syria the USSR will move against these US proxy forces with vengeance.
The USA want to overthrow Assad so that a pro US government can be set up, one that will not push for the return of the Golan Heights to Syria so that Israel can hang on to and exploit the oil find. Even if the Golan does return to Syria the USA want a friendly government in power. It is to this end that the USA recruited, trained and armed the opposition groups. They were supposed to overthrow the Assad regime. Then entered Russia. To what end the USA will go to strengthen and defend these militia forces they put there remains to be seen.
Clearly both sides are lying to us about their true intentions in Syria and we should not believe anything either side tells us.
