French Police Kill 2, Arrest 7 in Hunt For Terror Mastermind
In the early morning hours of November 18th, French police raided the suspected hideout of Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who is believed to be the mastermind of Friday’s terror attack in Paris. Over the course of seven hours the police fired over 5,000 rounds into the fortified apartment, which is located in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denise. Authorities claim that the terror cell was planning another attack on the Charles De Gaul airport and the Les Quatre Temps shopping center.
While reports are mixed, it seems that about 7-8 suspects were arrested and 2-3 were killed, including a woman who is believed to be a cousin of Abaaoud. After the first few arrests were made, she blew herself up with a suicide vest. 5 police officers and a passerby were also injured in the raid, and authorities have yet to reveal the identities of those who are in custody.
Due to the multiple explosions that were reported during the raid, some of which were caused by French police, only body parts were found at the scene. Police aren’t sure about how many remains they’re dealing with, with estimates varying between 2 and 3 bodies. While numerous reports claim that Abaaoud was killed in the raid, others suggest that a DNA analysis will need to be made before any conclusions are dawn.
