Two Cops Held on $1 Million Bond for Shooting and Killing a 6-yr-old Autistic Boy

Two officers, Derrick Stafford, 32, of Mansura, and Norris Greenhouse Jr., 23, of Marksville, have been held on $1 million bond each for the shooting death of a six-year-old autistic boy marshals fired on the child’s father’s vehicle last Tuesday.
The little boy named Jeremy Mardis was hit with five bullets and died still buckled into his dad’s SUV.
His father, Chris Few, who was unarmed at the time, was critically wounded and is still in the hospital; reportedly he has not been told his son died yet.
The officers were working part-time as city marshals who normally serve arrest warrants, however, there were no outstanding arrest warrants on Few.
The shooting happened “at the conclusion of a pursuit”. Both officers face charges of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder.

Few’s attorney, Mark Jeansonne, told The Associated Press on Monday that police body camera video shows his client had his hands up and didn’t pose a threat when the officers shot into his car.
Col. Michael Edmonson, superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, said it was the cops’ body cams that ultimately led to their arrests:
“I can tell you, as a father, it was one of the most disturbing things I’ve witnessed,” Edmonson said of the footage.
If the cops make bail, they’ll get to be released from jail to be confined at home with electronic monitoring bracelets.
