Five ‘Can’t Miss’ UFO Websites

In an earlier article we took a look at some crappy UFO websites. But now we’re going to undertake a more pleasant task. Here we will profile five of the better UFO websites. Visit these and if you have a lick of sense you won’t come away disappointed.

These UFO websites offer terrific information and analysis and all but one center around podcasts. They are multimedia bonanzas of stimulating research and intelligent discussion run by reputable people who bring class and dignity to an area of study that frequently lacks both.

The Other Side of Truth

This UFO website hosts the blog and podcast of Canadian filmmaker Paul Kimball, Stanton Friedman’s nephew and a crackerjack researcher in his own right.

Kimball brings a skeptic’s mentality to his discussions of ufology and the sometimes shady characters that occupy its less-than-hallowed halls. If you read his work or listen to his interviews you’ll occasionally be offended by his takes on cases or people you admire. But Kimball’s work challenges you and makes you think, and that is sorely needed in a field where gullibility and sensationalism too often reign supreme.  

This UFO website is the domain of Tim Binnall, whose Binnall of America podcast has featured a who’s-who of the ufology and paranormal fields. Binnall’s interviewing style is enthusiastic and complimentary and he definitely brings out the best in his guests.

In addition to the podcasts the Binnall of America website also hosts a number of columns from regular contributors with extensive knowledge of all things esoterica, including the highly-respected researcher Regan Lee. Everything that’s ever been written or broadcast on BOA is available in the site’s extensive archives, which are freely accessible to all site visitors.

Hidden Experience

The host of this UFO website, graphic artist and nature guide Mike Clelland, has an extensive history of personal contact with otherworldly life forms, although Mike refers to himself as a UFO “experiencer” rather than an abductee. Mike has just recently published a book called The Messengers: Owl Synchronicity and the UFO Abductee, in which he takes a deeper look at the mysterious connection between this enigmatic animal and an equally enigmatic phenomenon.

Mike sponsors his own podcast and all of his past shows are available for download on his site. His interviewing style is warm, friendly and open, and he has gained a reputation as one of the true “nice guys” in ufology.

The Paracast

Hosted by Gene Steinberg and Chris O’Brien, “The Paracast” has a reputation as one of the more distinguished UFO podcasts. The show features interviews with all-star lineup of the most famous names in ufology, who know they will be challenged by Steinberg and O’Brien and will have to defend their positions with facts and logic.

One thing that separates The Paracast from most other UFO websites is its active and popular forum. The forums on most UFO websites are deader than the guest stars on Ghost Hunters, but here the discussion is lively, controversial and confrontational.

The Secret Sun

The only one of our UFO websites that does not offer a podcast, “The Secret Sun” is run by Christopher Knowles, a writer and cultural analyst who co-authored a book called The Complete X-Files: Behind the Series, the Myths, and the Movies. Knowles is a thinking man’s esoteric researcher whose theories and speculations are highly thought-provoking and delivered in a vivid, intellectually stimulating writing style.

As might be expected from someone who is a devotee of The X-Files, Knowles is fascinated by the intersection between ufology, the paranormal, alternative spirituality, conspiracy and popular culture, and many of his ruminations illuminate connections and synchronicities that others completely miss. For those who prefer to explore Fortean mysteries from within a broader social, cultural and political context, “The Secret Sun” is a UFO website that should not be missed.
