The Baltic Dry Index is the assessment of the price of moving all of the globes major raw materials by sea, including commodities like coal, grain, and iron ore. Tyler Durden of Zero Hedge reports “ Last week, I received news from a contact who is friends with one of the biggest billionaire shipping families in the world. He told me they had no ships at sea right now, because operating them meant running at a loss. Commerce between Europe and North America has literally come to a halt. NOTHING is moving.”
Other signs of a sinking ship. The Dow Jones has lost 1500 points in 10 days. And still has a lot further to fall. The fragility of the markets are worse than pre 2008. One minor trigger could send the globe into at the very least yet another major recession. Regardless, Obama will hear none of it.

The Dow Jones has dropped because people have made a killing on the fake run up and now they are profit taking. The brick and mortar retail stores are getting killed by online stores so their shutting down the losers. Oil is correcting to its real inflation adjusted price around $40.00 a barrel. There is always overshoot on the way up and down. When the dust settles it will float around 35 to 45 a barrel. If oil starts heading higher producers will come back on line to knock it down. The real stock market value is probably about half what it is now, so yes we will have more downward pressure before we equalize. The real issue is the total lack of skills people possess. Try to find a decent plumber, electrician or any other trade and you will find it rather challenging. The trades have been ignored far to long. The infrastructure is ripe for failure and we don’t have enough qualified people to fix it. The economy will be fine if people shift into jobs that actually benefit other people. The world needs to stop throwing money at entertainment and war and start rebuilding its infrastructure. The world needs educated people in all vocations. Until everyone realizes you have to actually produce something of value I would agree there will be pain ahead.
