Massive Fireball Explodes Over Turkey
In the city of Şanlıurfa, a light appeared in the sky along with an explosion, both occurring last night. An investigation has determined that a meteorite caused the blast.
Last night at 00:22 am, in Şanlıurfa, Turkey, a huge explosion was heard. The loud booming ‘voice’ could be heard across the county where a shaking occurred. Fear and panic seized citizens who reported the situation to the police by calling the 155 line.
In the investigation carried out by the police team dispatched initially revealed no evidence that the explosion could be of natural origin. The police team continued to work into the morning, and with additional evidence, changed their opinion, determining that the explosion was a natural sky event after all.
Images recorded by a citizen with a mobile phone showed the asteroid traveling across the sky, and the sudden light which burst quickly through the clouds and toward the earth. This light could be clearly seen on area workplace security cameras as well, which recorded images of the asteroid.
