You Will Never Eat McDonald’s French Fries Again After Watching This (Video)

For more than one reason, it’s time to consider cutting out McDonald’s french fries entirely. The quality of product, the way in which they are made and also; why would you want to support a company like McDonald’s? All key things to consider, not to mention what Michael Pollan is going to share below.

Michael Pollan is an author, activist, journalist, and professor of journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. His research focuses mainly on the industrial food chain. He emphasizes how cooking is one of the simplest and most important steps people can take to improve their family’s health, build communities, help fix our broken food system, and perhaps most importantly, break our growing dependence on corporations. In the video below he illustrates how McDonald’s insists on using Russet Burbank Potatoes, a potato in America that is unusually difficult to grow and requires a long time to do so. They further insist that their potatoes have no blemishes at all, which is difficult to achieve because these potatoes commonly suffer from what is referred to as Net Necrosis, which causes unwanted spots and lines on the potatoes.

If the potatoes for sale have these markings, McDonald’s won’t buy them, and the only way to eliminate this problem is through the use of a pesticide called methamidophos (Monitor) “that is so toxic that the farmers who grow these potatoes in Idaho won’t venture outside and into their fields for five days after they spray.”

When McDonald’s is ready to harvest their potatoes, they have to put them in giant atmospheric-controlled sheds the size of football stadiums, because they are inedible. They “have to off gas all the chemicals in them,” which takes six weeks.

I’ll let you watch the video for more information. You should have a hard time eating McDonald’s after this, but that’s not a bad thing.

Cancer rates continue to rise, and study after study continues to surface every year showing how pesticides, GMOs, and a number of other things that surround us on a daily basis are indeed harmful to human health. It’s time for us to wake up and fully acknowledge these dangers, it’s time to make better choices in our lives, it’s time to start recognizing the connections between our environment and our health.

Fast foods share more in common with drugs than we’d like to think; they can be extremely addicting and extremely harmful. They should not exist, period, and this video just adds to the long, continually growing list of why.

      They don’t see their fries as something going into your stomach to feed you.
      Instead, the fries are their corporate ‘product’ and their ‘brand’…
      And food nutrition? They’re frozen pre-cooked French fries!
      They HAVE no nutrition.

      I’ll eat burgers (and chicken sandwiches etc.) from all the big fast-food chains, with the more bacon and cheese on them the better.
      That’s not junk food! That’s not ‘fattening’.
      Folks I have some news for you: eating fats doesn’t make you fat. Eating sugar does.
      And I have yet to encounter any hamburger containing icing…

      Anyway – I never touch the liquid-candy sodapop drinks or the fries.
      It is in fact the ‘Combo’ that is killing America and making its people ridiculously obese.
      Meanwhile, in their witlessness they’ll actually munch the fries, guzzle the drinks and avoid the burgers.
      “Oh no! That’s fat! You can’t eat fat!” LoL, heheh…
      Everything is low-fat in the USA. It’s insane!
      (Diabetes doctors and Big Pharma, however, love it.) :lol:

        I call BS on the sugar-makes-you-fat claim.
        If it did I’d be huge, yet here I am on my third candy bar of the day and I probably still weigh less than you.
        The only thing I’m doing differently to larger people is that I’m eating less in general of everything, and I only eat when I’m really hungry, not just when there’s food in front of me.

          God fed his prophets 2 meals a day. Morning and evening. Who created the phony lunch hour crap to make :arrow: $$$???

      The healthiest I’ve ever been was when I was following the diet in ‘Fit For Life’ by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. There’s some serious science behind it, but the diet it’s self is pretty simple.

      Breakfast: fresh fruit and freshly juiced fruit. Nothing from a can or bottle, only fresh.

      Lunch: salad, fresh vegetable juice and carbs like potatoes or pasta, but no proteins, like meat or cheese.

      Tea: fresh vegetable juice.

      Dinner: fresh vegetable juice, salad and protein like meat, fish or beans.

      Absolutely an unfair advantage for an athlete to eat this way, you have so much energy. But it required discipline, and that’s an area where I’m weak, so I slipped into eating “normally” again. Days when I drag myself out of bed feeling like I weigh a million pounds, I’m reminded of how I felt weightless and bounded out of bed when I ate that way. One day I’ll do it again… one day….

        As a kid (though some still consider me that :lol: ) I remember reading a boxing book for kids and it mentioned how the Roman Gladiators ate whole grain and fruits for breakfast after taking a dip in the ice cold lakes and then training.

        As you know the Roman Gladiators became renowned for their fighting abilities. :mrgreen:
