I didn’t watch the boring video, but I doubt anyone really believes you can see 100 miles. The effective range of a periscope is 4-5 nautical miles. But go ahead, exaggerate the distance so you can prove a point.
The range of a scope can be calculated to a horizon by using a simple formula…
1.17 times the square root of your height of eye = Distance to the horizon in nautical miles.
THIS is how far you can see. You know why you can’t see beyond that? BECAUSE THE EARTH IS A GLOBE!!!

When and where have you looked out of a submarine periscope and saw as for as a hundred miles?
Were there tall landmarks in the distance? Were you completely submerged and could see 100 miles through the water? Did ya just look flat across the water and could see for a full 100 miles and just so happened to have the equipment with you to measure the distance?
No offense, but with no source of any kind for backing I could say I saw into a cave on Jupiter but that doesn’t necessarily make it so.

it appears flat because it is only seeing approx 4-5 miles max. You cannot detect curvature at such a short distance. How can people be this stupid.

There! I FORCED myself to watch the video, so I could say I remain open minded.
