Florida Sheriff: ‘I can no longer in good conscious coach our citizens to hide’ (VIDEO)
Brevard County is on Florida’s Space Coast and is just a few miles to the East of Orlando. It’s Sheriff Wayne Ivey’s county and he says it’s time to fight back.
Ivey, who leads a 1,500 member department and is a strong backer of gun rights, released the a video this week to advise citizens of what to do if they find themselves in a nightmare scenario such as the one experienced by those in Orlando where a terrorist killed 49 this week.
“Starting right now, our agency is revising our awareness message for our citizens,” says Ivey. “Our plan as a community and as a country needs to be: if you can’t evade or escape the incident, then defend yourself– and fight like your life depends on it because it truly does.”
