“Researches conducted on turmeric and its uses found that the ingredient curcumin present in it is effective against major depressive disorder in the same way as fluoxetine (Prozac).”

That’s because in terms of treating depression, both likely work on the basis of a placebo effect. Turmeric undoubtedly has myriad health benefits, but it’s not the panacea these articles make it out to be.

But, but, but it’s all natural…………………………. Just like organic petroleum.

Just a thought- I wonder if psychiatrists or physicians prescribing anti-depressants ever survey their patients with dietary questions like- Do you eat spicy foods and if so, how often? Reason is I have always wondered if people who like spicy foods such as curry (which has turmeric in it) or hot peppers are free from depression. And going along with that subject, I would be curious to know if people who stick to bland diets have a tendency to be depressed.

Has anyone done such a study?

      And if not, why not?

      Anyone? Anyone?….Bueller? …..Bueller?
