M2.9 Earthquake 520 Feet Deep Yellowstone Super-Volcano Lava Moving

The Yellowstone super-volcano rumbled today with a Magnitude 2.9 earthquake.  The earthquake took place directly in the mouth of the volcano at a depth of only 520 FEET!  That’s lava moving!

In fact, seismographs throughout Yellowstone National Park, which surrounds the ultra-massive volcano, are ALL showing rumbling at various times and various strengths today.  On the image below, (click to enlarge) you can see that all 32 seismographs not only register the magnitude 2.9 (shown in red), they ALL show varying levels of other earthquakes (shown in red) throughout the volcano and throughout the day! Take a look:

Yellowstone is the single largest volcano on land, anywhere in the world.  The last 3 times it erupted, it covered almost two-thirds of the ENTIRE United States in varying layers of volcanic ash, as shown by the graphic below from the US Geological Survey:

THERE IS NO SIGN (YET) OF ANY IMMINENT ERUPTION.  If government authorities determine that there is danger, they will tell you.  

In the unlikely event of an actual eruption, the devastation to the United States would be on a scale that is almost unimaginable.  The graphic below from the USGS shows the scope of the area which would be affected:

The area in red above is the “Initial Kill Zone.”  Everything in that area would be killed or otherwise destroyed within minutes of a super-eruption. Almost the entire population of the state of Wyoming would be wiped-out (dead) within minutes.  In addition, eastern Idaho, Northern Utah and southwestern Montana would also be wiped out.

Beyond the initial kill zone is the “Hot Ash Zone”  People in this area will have about a half a day to a day to get out before fire-hot ash begins raining down upon them, setting everything on fire.  Nothing will be spared, not people, animals, homes, buildings, cars or the like.  Everything will burn.
