The Disturbing Reality That Will Shock Most People: What Your Vote Actually Does!!

I’m sure there are a LOT of different reasons people vote, but I think that for the most part, MANY vote because they think they’re doing their part to steer their country in the right direction.  And if you’ve ever been a delegate to a state or a national convention and you were honest with yourself, you know that another large group of people vote because their party has a candidate “and we just can’t let the other guys win.” Others vote because that’s just what they do.  Never mind about understanding the issues or finding out what your candidate actually stands for, this is what we’ve always done so people just don’t question why they do what they do.

As in every election, we’re now being bombarded with propaganda about how “your vote makes a difference” and associated nonsense. According to the official version, ordinary citizens control the state by voting for candidates in elections. The President and other politicians are supposedly servants of “the people” and the government an instrument of the general populace. This version is a myth. It does not matter who is elected because the way the system is set up all elected representatives must do what big business and the state bureaucracy want, not what “the people” want.

Elected representatives are just figureheads.  Figureheads for shady backroom deals and controlling corporate elites. Politicians’ rhetoric may change depending on who is elected, but they all have to implement the same policies given the same situation. Elections are a scam whose function is to create the illusion that “the people” control the government, not the elite, and to neutralize resistance movements. All voting does is strengthen the state & ruling class, it is not an effective means to change government policy. As Stalin quipped when looking down upon the voting masses…it doesn’t matter who they vote for, every vote is a vote for us.

But what’s really bad is that, when you participate in the state sanctioned, seemingly religious ritual called “voting,” you legitimize, by your actions, the myth called government or authority, and therefore strengthen and perpetuate the chains of your own comfortable oppression. And as such you condone the evil actions of an utterly corrupt, mythological system that is filled with the most narcissistic, evil-minded psychopathic individuals the world has ever known.  And why do I say it’s a myth when “government” looks so very real and big and monsterous?  Because, think about this, no individual possesses the right to RULE or to initiate force upon another individual who has done no wrong.  If he does bring violence on another in ANY FORM for reasons other than self-defense, he has done that which is IMMORAL.

It doesn’t matter what kind of costume the aggressor is wearing, what kind of badge he has or with what “authority” he claims to come.  Further, no individual or group of individuals can confer a power they do not possess on any other individual or group of individuals.  For an individual or a group of individuals to imagine that they possess the right to rule and the power to initiate force or to steal from or to coerce or to threaten or to fine another individual, without it being considered IMMORAL, is to participate in and believe in a FABLE.  And that is what Government is….it is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is the forceful intrusion of men and women who call themselves “officials” or “authorities”, reigning terror upon people who have neither harmed nor threatened to harm anyone.

So, here are a couple of reasons why no informed, MORAL person could possibly participate in such a corrupt, utterly vile system: 

1. Your vote doesn’t count.  If you think it does, prove it.  There is plenty of evidence of voter fraud, especially on the national level…and those are just the incidences that we know about. 

2. The choices, if you wanna call them choices, are limited.  You are left with the infamous two party system.  Basically you choose from the candidates they give you.  That is no choice at all.  As Stalin once said, it doesn’t matter who the people vote for…every vote is a vote for us.

3. If one votes, one participates. If one participates, one condones and endorses the process, and subsequently, what those elected ‘representatives’ do and say in your name.

4. Electoral promises are meaningless because politicians are able to lie to gain the favour of the electorate, and then do exactly what they want once they have it. Then there is no accountability or recourse, other than waiting another 4 years or so to vote them out and replace them with someone else who will follow the SAME established template and do the exact same thing.

5. The act of voting grants legitimacy to the idea that it’s acceptable for the majority/collective to use the coercive arm of the state to impose their will on the minority/individual by using force, or threat of force, and for that reason ALONE, it is immoral to vote. As such, the only way to truly delegitimise the system is by not voting. When the people refuse to participate in droves the international community can no longer recognise the results of the election as legitimate. This perceived legitimacy is such a concern for politicians that in some countries it’s now a legal requirement to vote (e.g., Australia).

6. A non-voter emerges from the electoral process with a clean conscience because they can legitimately proclaim that what the elected ‘representatives’ subsequently say and do after they have gained power is not done in their name, not with their permission and not with their encouragement.

7. To not vote DOES NOT mean one relinquishes the right to then comment on, complain about, or protest the actions of the government, it is completely the other way round. When one votes one effectively makes a contractual agreement (the voter is officially recorded doing so), which hands over the right for someone else to speak and act in their name, and as such, assents to whatever the government does thereafter. A non-voter however, has not done so, and therefore retains the right to complain, object and protest all they want.

8. Participation in the system (i.e., voting) reinforces the idea that people can’t live together without violent control.

9. Participation in the system (i.e., voting) implies that the majority knows what’s best for everyone.

10. Participation in the system (i.e., voting) implies that the majority knows what’s best for the individual.

11. Voting is effectively participating in mob rule, and the mob then enforces it’s views on the rest of society with the threat of violence.

12. By voting, an individual literally advocates the use of force against peaceful people.

13. Voting reinforces the false idea the ‘people’ have the power rather than the unaccountable bureaucrats who actually make the rules.  If the people break these rules, they are counted as criminals, therefore voting empowers corrupt people to make “criminals” out of peaceful people.

14. Pragmatically speaking, voting is futile because invariably the better financed candidate wins.

15. Voting is designed by the authoritarian, parasitic puppet masters to deceive the people into thinking that their vote counts and that they have the power to effect positive change in their lives.  Voting also tends to give the voter a mistakenly inflated sense of self-worth, and participation in a system creates a passive sense of accomplishment.

16. An individual’s ability to make an informed choice is zero if the only information they reference is from the overtly bias mainstream media, government news channels (propaganda), politicians and party manifestos (sales pitch) or from an ‘enforced’ state school indoctrination program.

17. Voting perpetuates the cycle of your own oppression and is seen by the powers that be as a barometer for how well their social programs are doing.  It sends a signal to the selected politicians that the voter approves of all their policies. Voters therefore encourage them.

18. If no individual has the authority to make laws their neighbour, or anyone else, must obey, then how is it morally acceptable for any individual to delegate authority they don’t have to parasitic politicians through their vote?

19. If voting did have any effect, should people who know more about game shows, sports, reality TV and celebrities, rather than matters of any real importance (economics, political philosophy, history, logic, critical thinking, etc) be in a position to vote and influence the lives of others?

20. By supporting the lesser of two evils and saying that government is a necessary evil – you are supporting evil and declaring evil to be necessary in order to maintain a civilized society.  And that is an insane thought.

The 20 reasons not to vote boil down to this:

If you are not a Voluntaryist, then by definition you are an Involuntaryist, and as such, personally advocate the initiation of force, or threat of force, against people who haven’t threatened or harmed anyone. Therefore, for every person in the world one of these statements is true:

1) “I advocate a society whereby people are free to voluntarily interact with one another.”
2) “I advocate the use of force, or threat of force, against innocent people, in order to make them comply with my opinions and preferences.”

If the first statement refers to you, you’re a voluntarist and you WON’T VOTE.

If the second statement applies to you, you’re an in humane statist…how CAN you VOTE??
