More Stupid Bakery Politics: People Lose It When a Bakery Refuses to Make a “Trump 2016” Cake and Gives This Ridiculous Reason
Enough with the bakery politics! Since when did bakeries actually care what goes on a cake anyway? And when did people start caring whether or not they care?
Better yet, when did society get on the cake tyranny bandwagon of trying to force private businesses like bakeries to make goods like cakes if they don’t want to?
Why do people care so much if a bakery refuses to make their cake? If someone disagrees with you that strongly, do you really want to pay them money so they can cook you food?
Not to point out the obvious, but this is something someone is paying to have made so they can eat it. If the person baking it is petty enough not to put someone’s message on a cake for political reasons, they are likely petty enough to “accidentally” drop a lot of the ingredients on the floor, then bake someone a cake full of stuff that wasn’t on the recipe and no one wants to eat. If someone told me they didn’t want to bake my cake, that’s a warning I wouldn’t want to eat their cake anyway.
Better yet, ever heard of cake mix? How about making your own damn cake instead of whining about the First World problems of bitchy bakeries you shouldn’t be giving your money to anyways?
Regardless, IT’S JUST A FREAKING CAKE!! Fifteen bucks worth of sugar and carbs. It’s not like someone is buying or selling a black market kidney over here…

Anyway, what happened was a teen wanted a “Trump 2016” American flag cake for her Trump-themed 18th birthday because she’s excited about getting to vote in her first election (she must still think her vote counts), so she went to the neighborhood grocery store, in this case an Albertson’s in Bossier Parish, Louisiana.
The lady behind the bakery counter said she’d make an American flag cake, but she refused to write “Trump 2016” on it.
Why?
According to Albertson’s, it was a training issue and the worker thought the phrase “Trump 2016” was copyrighted.
That’s the excuse they actually gave for this. An Albertson’s spokeswoman released the following statement:
“We apologize to our customer in Bossier City for the situation regarding the cake that was requested. Our Bakery staff member misunderstood the training provided regarding copyrighted phrases, and incorrectly informed the customer we could not fulfill her request. We would be happy to provide the cake as the customer requested.”
I know, right? Stupid. Instead of letting the employee take the responsibility for her decision not to make the cake, the company made up the most ridiculous BS reason ever for their employee not making the cake.
And now the media has to spend time talking about it like it matters because… bakery politics?
Bakery politics. So stupid.
