A Frank Discussion with Donald Trump

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has reportedly cancelled nearly $1.7 million in televised ads scheduled for the key states of Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio — as well as other buys in Colorado, Iowa, New England and Pennsylvania markets.

This decision coincides with the release of a decade old, open mic spew of vulgarities, for which Trump apologized Friday (video). Still, he was unable to resist impetuously leaving the door open to discuss Bill Clinton’s extramarital escapades.

Too easily distracted, Trump must focus on the needs of our nation.

This tit-for-tat strategy is pure folly. Bill Clinton is not running in this upcoming election. The issues are the enormous debt incurred by Barack Obama, which Hillary Clinton would expand upon as she promises free college tuition and increased benefits. Joblessness is on the rise. Social Security and government-funded health care are unsustainable and must be retooled. The flood of unable to be vetted “refugees” from terror sponsoring nations must come to an abrupt end.  Our border must be secured. In these uncertain times, it’s imperative we invest more in defense and rebuilding our military, long neglected by Obama — who prefers bowing to despots, heads of corrupt regimes and Muslim royalty on his global apology tour — to safeguarding American citizens. There is no question beefing up the nation’s deteriorating infrastructure is an issue of foremost importance. We are vulnerable on far too many fronts.

Republicans need to win this election, Mr. Trump. Redefine the perpetual pout and limit the adjectives. We heard you the first time. No need to repeat everything three times.

This isn’t rocket science. Alicia Machado was not the bait you should have taken in the first debate. Neither is attempting to cover your own crude statements by trying to make Bill Clinton’s conduct worse.  This is not a vulgarity contest.

Donald Trump needs to move past these distractions and discuss his vision for America. That’s the only message.

After eight years of the outrageous excesses of Barack Obama, this presidential election should have been a cake walk for Republicans. Instead key endorsers are peeling away and the campaign is on life support. It can be resurrected, but the clock is ticking. Stay on message, Mr. Trump.
