A 29-year-old member of the Cossacks motorcycle club who was awaiting trial for his involvement in the Twin Peaks shootout last year was killed Friday night during a high-speed chase with police in Gatesville, Texas.
Trey Alston Short was reportedly driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed when an officer noticed and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. But in an effort to elude authorities, Short accelerated, leading the officer on a brief chase.
However, the high speed chase abruptly ended when Short ran into the back of a minivan. Short struck the van with such force that it flipped over the van, as he was thrown from the motorcycle.
Short was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the minivan suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover.
The Harley Davidson driven by Short was later found to be reported stolen out of Waco earlier this year.
