Australia has made become the first entire continent to legalize marijuana, after their Parliament took a vote on Wednesday.

Australia, with a population of around 23 million has followed several states in the U.S. and decided to decriminalize the use of marijuana.

The amendments were made to their Narcotic Drugs Act,which means legal cannabis farms and the distribution of marijuana products will have to governments go-ahead.

Sussan Ley, the Minister of Health, said in a statement“This is a historic day for Australia and the many advocates who have fought long and hard to challenge the stigma around medicinal cannabis products so genuine patients are no longer treated as criminals,”  she went on “This is the missing piece in a patient’s treatment journey, and [we] will now see seamless access to locally produced medicinal cannabis products from farm to pharmacy.”

The details have not been finalized just yet, but it is thought within the next few months patients with a prescription for medical marijuana will be allowed to start growing their crops.

This is a huge leap for supporters of legalized marijuana across the world, and hopefully now other continents such as North America and Europe will do the same.

Its MEDICAL, which means a doctor and a prescription will be required.

You then get to pay your local happy smiling chemist some huge amount of money, and your name and that of your doctor then goes onto a government data base.

Its a very good thing, but nothing for all the social smokers to get excited about.

All BS really. The gubermint slowly loosens it’s death grip on Ganja. In the US it is legal in nearly half of the states medically now. And many states allow social use now. However using it medically requires a license and a registration with the Public health department. And this puts you on a gubermint database that means you can no longer buy a firearm from a licensed gun dealer. But in the infinite wisdom of Gubermint there is no problem with all the guns you may already have. I find it very funny that I could take all the opiates I wanted, percocet etc. And I can drink all I want. And I have no problem buying a gun. But because I use cannabis medicinally, and in very small amounts, simply for therapeutic effect, not to get “high” I am suddenly a “bad person”. All because some douche bag decided it needed to be illegal so his newly formed “Federal Narcotics Bureau” would get funding and actually have something to do….
