“Celebrities Know Best” Delusion Marks Downfall Of Hillary Campaign- A Reason For Optimism

One of the things that jumped out at me about the Hillary-DNC-Hollywood-Mainstream media campaign was how a bunch of people in her camp determined to sell Hillary to America at all costs apparently got together and thought that by simply using Hollywood celebrities and famous musicians the people of America would blindly obey and go along with whatever these celebrities say, just because of who they are. Deep down the Hillary camp put their faith and belief in the perceived magical power and influence of celebrities like Jay Z, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Jon Stewart and Lady Gaga just to name a few.

In the final weeks Hillary had these celebrities going full steam ahead for her campaign apparently clinging to the hope that Americans would blindly, emotionally and viscerally just go along with whatever their favorite celebrities tell them to do.

Silently, years of American-style Hollywood and celebrities illusions were being counted on to simply work. Since the days of Edward Bernays telling us how easily people are manipulated we’ve seen Hollywood celebrities on TV treated like gods and used as tools to sway the opinions and thoughts of the masses.

The “celebrity” status thing seemed to have worked well for Ronald Reagan who one time was a Hollywood actor and later for Bill Clinton when he took to the Hollywood stage playing his saxophone on TV. Back in the 1990’s people were in awe seeing Bill on late night TV shows and being as cool as the Hollywood celebrities sunglasses and all. Back then the elite realized they were on to something big in terms of marketing their future selected presidents.

Over the years, quietly the “celebrities know best” delusion gained momentum to the point of being weaponized as a legitimate tactic to win elections. It was employed for Obama and again it seemed to work fairly well for him in 2008. Naturally the Hillary team pinned all their hope (literally) on this “celebrity endorsement” tactic and something amazing happened this past presidential election day 2016; the now overused tactic failed and it failed miserably!

America as a whole realized something very important. Many people, it turned out, this time were able to easily look beyond what the often clueless Hollywood celebrity was telling them to think. People began to realize that these celebrities are famous because of the movies they make, the TV shows they appear in or the music they make, not because they magically somehow know more than you or I. People awakened to the idea that celebrities, if anything, know LESS not more about what is really happening in the world because their personal view is often skewed. Celebrities often DON’T understand what the average American is dealing with because they themselves are not average Americans.

Amazingly, Americans in great numbers were able to see this very real dissociation between celebrities and the average American and they were able to turn off their voices and realize just how irrelevant these people’s opinions really are. Completely irrelevant!

This ability to finally see the mass marketing of celebrity opinions as irrelevant noise allowed many Americans to then think. Many were able to think about the ACTUAL issues they care about instead of forming an opinion because a famous person in Hollywood told them to.

Founding father of modern day propaganda Edward Bernays really believed that this type of mass mind control would work every time unless or until people became aware of the marketing operation itself. Well, guess what, that point of awareness finally arrived for many Americans and for that I am thankful.

It’s good to know that just because a “super star celebrity” comes on TV tomorrow telling everyone what to believe that a growing number of people will resist the message unless what the person is saying resonates to some reasonable degree with them. It’s good to know that in the future, more than ever before, what celebrities say will be judged based on truth, logic and reason more so than simply the “magic” of their celebrity status.

This, in my opinion is paradigm shift in motion. People are slowly thinking different. As a group they (we) see what works and doesn’t work. The masses are beginning to much more quickly identify propaganda at a time when mainstream media believability is at an all time low and that is a good thing.

So while many people in the alternative media are focusing on the “similarities” and indifference between Hillary and Trump (which is not true, they are VERY different) and the staged left-right paradigm (which is very true as I have written about this often in the past) it’s easy to miss the small gains, the small victories and the small steps forward for humanity. Well guess what, this is one of the victories staring us right in the face.

It’s about time we (humanity) move past the model of famous celebrities on TV telling us how to think. Whether it’s politicians, sports figures, famous musicians or Hollywood actors, enough is enough. It’s time for people to think on their own. See the evidence of things for yourself. Use your own brain. Study the issues and stop relying on Michael Moore or some other film maker or celebrity to explain the issue to you. Instead take advantage of the information age and do your own research. Don’t wait for Donald Trump to tell you how to think. Let’s tell HIM how to think! Then let’s hold him accountable for not thinking like us. How’s that for a paradigm shift?
