New Moon In Capricorn: Taking It To The Next Level
by Carmen Di Luccio, Collective Evolution
We are having a New Moon in Capricorn on December 29th for most of the world, and late on the 28th for those on the West side of the Americas. The exact time will be at 6:53am Universal Time — you can click here for your time zone.
Each New Moon brings in a new wave of energy that plays out over the following 29 days, but more so in the 14 days leading up to the next Full Moon. A New Moon offers new opportunities to work with the energy of the sign it is occurring in.
New Moon Conjunct Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn
Capricorn is symbolized by the mountain goat (traditionally as a ‘Goat-fish’) that cautiously and ambitiously climbs to the top. It is pragmatic, masterful, responsible, and thrifty. Capricorn is also associated with resourcefulness, structures and management.
Mercury has been retrograde in this sign since December 19th, and will last until January 8th. This is a time in which we are reorienting ourselves around some of the qualities of Capricorn that were mentioned above. It is possible that disruptions, miscommunications, delays, or other problems that have occurred since the 19th are happening because we need to look at something in a new light to help us express some of these Capricorn themes in a new way.
New Moon and Mercury Sextile Mars, Neptune with the South Node in Pisces, Saturn Square Chiron
This can be a great time for applying ourselves spiritually, creatively, and even selflessly. It is a great time for connecting with others from our past without conflict. However, this can also be a time when we can easily be careless or lose ourselves in something that is an escape from the real world, at a time when the real world is somewhat calling us.
With Mercury in Capricorn applying a trine to the North Node in Virgo, it is good consider and reflect on our approach to management and sustainability on behalf of creating a better future.
Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is in a tight square aspect to Chiron, which could bring up limitations as a result of our wounds and/or blockages. However, it can also be a great time to get serious with ourselves and do whatever hard work is required to try to move beyond any inadequacies.
Uranus Opposition Jupiter in Aspect With Saturn
We are also experiencing a strong opposition between Jupiter and Uranus with Saturn involved, and Pluto somewhat in the mix as well. Over the previous week or two, many people have experienced some surprises or rebelliousness toward what is fair or just. In some cases, hidden matters have been brought to light.
With Saturn in Sagittarius in a harmonious aspect with Jupiter and Uranus, this is a time to look at the big picture in a realistic way to determine what is balanced, fair, and/or what will satisfy different parties involved. Applying ourselves towards anything innovative at this time can yield tangible results in the long term. I wrote more about this energy in my recent Mercury Retrograde article.
Making Intentions and Things to Consider
Think of what has come up in your life recently. Have you come across new information or anything that could assist you? Perhaps the Universe is showing you that you need to change something? Perhaps you are considering changing your goals because of recent developments?
These are some examples of what could be coming up for you. If you plan on making intentions, my suggestion is to consider your goals for 2017. Focus your intentions on what you would like to create this year and what you can do over the next month to help you get a solid start. The new year in the Gregorian calendar has significance in numerology and 2017 is a ‘1’ year collectively, which is great for new beginnings.
The best time to set your intentions is within the first 24 hours after the New Moon, as close to the New Moon as possible. You can click here to find out when it will be in your time zone.
