Pop Quiz: How Many Sexual Math Problems Can a Teacher Give Before Being Fired?

The answer: At least three times, if that teacher works at Middleburg Heights Junior High School in Ohio.

A teacher received a mere slap on the wrist for using very questionable judgment in the wording of math problem he presented to his students.

A father of two 14-year-old students at Middleburg Heights Junior High School told Fox 8 he was angry when his children showed him a photo of the assignment, which reads:

Tony can send 5 texts and 3 nudes in 19 minutes. He could also send 3 texts and 1 nude in 9 minutes. How long would it take him to send one text and one nude?

The teacher, Daniel Rapp, was given a written reprimand.

Superintendent Michael Sheppard said of the incident:

We addressed the teacher and kind of clarified exactly what happened, and in this case provided what we thought was the appropriate consequence, which was clarification that that was inappropriate.

He’s a good teacher, and just in this case used the inappropriate word.

You have to look to see if it is out of character or not, and in this case, it was something that happened that was just obviously not acceptable from the school district’s perspective and that’s why we took it, looked at it very seriously and provided the appropriate consequence.

I’m sorry, what? Rapp had to be told that giving 14-year old kids math problems that involved sexting scenarios is inappropriate?

How many times does Rapp need to be told this? This wasn’t his first offense.

When Fox 8 asked to see Rapp’s personnel file, they were told it was not immediately available. But superintendent admitted that Rapp has another similar reprimand in his file.
