Racist Schools Are Teaching Students That “Whiteness Is A Problem”

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In the upcoming spring 2017 semester, two taxpayer-funded American universities – the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Colorado Denver – will offer undergraduate courses focused exclusively on how “whiteness” is a serious social problem, reports The Daily Caller.

The University of Wisconsin course is called The Problem of Whiteness.

Here are a few excerpts from the class description:

After all, since white supremacy was created by white people, is it not white folks who have the greatest responsibility to eradicate it?

Critical Whiteness Studies aims to understand how whiteness is socially constructed and experienced in order to help dismantle white supremacy.

Whereas disciplines such as Latino/a, African, and Asian American studies focus on race as experienced by non-whites, whiteness studies considers how race is experienced by white people. It explores how they consciously and unconsciously perpetuate institutional racism and how this not only devastates communities of color but also perpetuates the oppression of most white folks along the lines of class and gender. In this class, we will ask what an ethical white identity entails, what it means to be #woke, and consider the journal Race Traitor’s motto, “treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity.”

Well, then.

The course is taught by Assistant Professor Damon Sajnani, who attempted to offer The College Fix an explanation of his class:

“Whites rarely or never questioned what it is to be white. So you go through life taking it for granted without ever questioning or critically interrogating it.”

For Sajnani, one way to solve this is to offer “The Problem of Whiteness,” an analysis of what it means to be white and how to deal with it as a “problem.”

“The idea of talking about the problem of whiteness is to turn the question back to where it belongs,” he said.

One of the main goals in the class will be to understand race and identity and how it impacts lives on a daily basis, he said. One of the talking points is juxtaposing white privilege and white power, and how the two can be intertwined and similar to each other, the scholar said.

“The problem of racism is the problem of whites being racist towards blacks,” he said.

The University of Colorado’s course is titled Problematizing Whiteness: Educating for Racial Justice. A copy of the syllabus was provided to Campus Reform. It says the following:

“Critical Whiteness Studies addresses the need for a deeper analysis of race, one that accounts for both sides of the race coin, that of the plight of people of color AND how Whites are also complicit in a system of race. Therefore, this class takes a deeper look into how race operates within White contexts and how such operations ultimately impacts people of color. By doing so, we bridge how Whites AND people of color can collectively work together towards a racially equitable society.”

Some of the required readings for the course include:

Learning to be White, White Out: The Continuing Significance of Racism, and an article titled “Sweet Little (White) Girls”? Sex and Fantasy Across the Color Line and the Contestation of Patriarchal White Supremacy.

A student who wished to remain anonymous told Campus Reform he questioned whether the class would be productive: “When our University offers classes about ‘problematizing whiteness,’ it is hard to really believe that we [Caucasian male students] are really being the oppressive ones.”

Earlier this year, Northwestern University offered a 6-part workshop for undergraduate students who self-identify as white. The link to that course has been taken down (presumably because the semester ended) but in April, The Daily Caller reported:

According to the university website, “The Privilege of Whiteness” workshop was designed for white people to “reflect on and name the ways their privilege impacts their beliefs and behaviors by gaining the skills to identify the historical roots of White privilege and how it manifests today.” Prospective attendees were informed that the workshop was “designed for a White audience,” although “People of color” were still welcome.

Northwestern currently offers another 6-part workshop series titled Deconstructing Whiteness. A flier for the program states that the course is intended to answer questions white students might have about race such as “Why do I have to feel guilty about being white?” or “How can I talk about race as a white person?” or “What does it mean to be white?”

Oregon State University and the University of Vermont – both taxpayer-funded schools – have hosted retreats to “educate” attendees about “white privilege”. The Oregon retreat’s workshops for white students focused on their “white privilege,” while the retreats for the non-white students sought to “empower students of color.” The Vermont retreat was for students who “self-identify as white” so they could confront their own “white privilege.”

Earlier this year, the University of Notre Dame offered a White Privilege Seminar that promised “personal transformation” for students by educating and training them in preparation for the annual White Privilege Conference, which students were required to attend:

Every year the conference features racially-segregated “caucuses”: one for people of color and indigenous peoples, one for mixed-race people, and a third for white people. According to the program from last year’s conference, the caucus for white people focuses on “racial privilege” while the other two caucuses focus on “racial oppression”.

A group at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton has offered a course called “#StopWhitePeople2K16” as part of routine training for residential assistants.

Colleges are not the only institutions that are “educating” students about “white privilege.” In September, a teacher at Oregon’s Aloha High School sent students in her Literature Composition class home with a “White Privilege Survey”:

An elite K-8 school in New York is teaching children as young as 6 that they are born racist and should feel guilty about their white privilege.

From the New York Post:

Bank Street has created a “dedicated space” in the school for “kids of color,” where they’re “embraced” by minority instructors and encouraged to “voice their feelings” and “share experiences about being a kid of color,” according to school presentation slides obtained by The Post.

Meanwhile, white kids are herded into separate classrooms and taught to raise their “awareness of the prevalence of Whiteness and privilege,” challenge “notions of colorblindness (and) assumptions of ‘normal,’ ‘good,’ and ‘American’” and “understand and own European ancestry and see the tie to privilege.”

The program, these parents say, deliberately instills in white children a strong sense of guilt about their race. Some kids come home in tears, saying, “I’m a bad person.”

They say white kids are being brainwashed into thinking any success they achieve is unearned. Indeed, a young white girl is seen confessing on a Bank Street video: “I feel guilty for having a privilege I don’t deserve.”

Just yesterday, we reported on MTV’s racist, sexist “2017 Resolutions for White Guys” video.

Last week, The Huffington Post ran an article titled Donald Trump’s Proposed Cabinet Is Very White, And Very Male. The image above the article featured – in massive bold letters – the headline Pale Male Fail. But, what should we expect from a “news” outlet whose editor Tweeted a photo of a table full of mostly white women that was evidently meant to show workplace diversity, but actually showed a lack of males or people of color on their editorial staff?

Perhaps none of this should be too surprising, considering that one of the goals of the elite is to keep us divided by whatever means necessary.

Divide and conquer. That’s always been how tyrants come to power – and stay there.
