The Cop That Didn’t Know When to Stop Talking…
The following video was submitted by Regan Benson after she was pulled over by Deputy Jon Hart. The best advice for talking to the police is DON’T. However not knowing when to shut up is a flaw that many people have. This tendency to ramble on often times leads to more trouble and that is exactly the case with Deputy Hart whose attempts at justifying his actions only got him into more hot water.
November 18th, 2016
Deputy Jon Hart, Washington County Sheriff’s Dept.
Deputy Jon Hart; he’s new to the law enforcement profession, having recently graduated from a metro area police academy this past summer and still incapable of figuring out what the proper role of law enforcement actually is. According to Deputy Jon Hart, the reason he and the rest of his department contact “people” as enforcers of the law goes just like this: “…but you know, you know the reason we’re contacting people is to make sure people are safe, we don’t issue tickets unless you guys are being you know a little crazy and going like 90 over and then I might because tickets are a bunch of paperwork to us, you know that, right?” Yet, Deputy Hart states ( :40s of part 2) “We’re pulling everyone over” Ah, is this how a low budget law enforcement agency avoids the cost of the unconstitutional road side sobriety check point? They perform unconstitutional traffic stops and title them the: Pulling everyone over extra duty project looking for DUI’s but avoiding paperwork unless it’s something a little crazy, or not, the heat is on campaign? This cop thinks he’s smart, can you tell? The evidence and the facts are damning that Deputy Hart is convinced he’ll have a career that serves and/or protects anyone.
Deputy Hart is being a bit disingenuous (or a flat out liar if you will) when he says it’s about safety. Because; it’s not. It’s about cops harassing “people”, especially minors. The sheriff’s dept. in Washington County, CO has a history of this and even Deputy Hart admits to this in his interaction with these minors. What was he looking to do on November 18th with this traffic stop of the notorious no license plate lit, violation? He says he’s on extra DUI patrol but knows these kids haven’t been drinking, yet refuses to let them go.
By his own admittance, Deputy Hart and the other deputies in Washington County enjoy targeting the youth. When my son, who is not a minor, refuses to identify himself as a passenger in this vehicle, Deputy Hart just cannot seem to let it go, repeatedly trying to bait him into verbal altercation. I guess it’s purely coincidence that Deputy Jon Hart is our next door neighbor, repeatedly visiting my home when I’m gone so that he can interact with my adult son (age 18, HS senior) and his minor
friends. I suspect it is reckless speculation to assume Deputy Jon Hart knew who was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle on the evening of November 18th. Well, if there was any confusion, he’s well aware of who he is now. He’s a young man who understands his rights by having numerous negative and life-altering interactions with the corruption that is: the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept.
The parody of dumb things this cop says and does speaks for itself in this video interaction.
“…alright man, I heard you guys, you know, have a bad rep with us man, but you know…”
Yes, the kids know exactly what Deputy Hart and his co-workers are up to and that is why they are becoming more vigilant in that their very own local small town sheriff’s dept. is corrupt and running amuck. This place doesn’t even have a way for a citizen to file a complaint and trust me when I say, the sheriff couldn’t care less he offers no formal complaint handling.
As far as I’m concerned, there is nothing wrong with never trusting law enforcement and always exercising your rights. Do it, it’s for your safety and protection even if you’re going 4 mph over the speed limit. Record, record and always record your interactions with the police.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Regan Benson
AKA: Mother Benson- Mother to 3 boys who have often and unwarrantedly been targeted by corrupt law enforcement.
