On Friday December 23, 2016 The United Nations Security Council
adopted a resolution that condemned new Israeli settlement
construction.
The 15-member Security Council’s vote on the measure passed 14
to 0, with the United States ambassador as the lone abstention.
Israel’s ambassador, Danny Danon denounced the measure and
castigated the Security Council Members who had approved it and
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying the
following:
“Israel rejects this shameful anti-Israel resolution at the U.N. and
will not abide by its terms. The Security Council does nothing to
stop the slaughter of half a million people in Syria, instead they
turn their focus on Israel, and they disgracefully gang up on the one
true democracy in the Middle East, Israel, and calls the Western
Wall ‘occupied territory.’ The Obama administration not only failed
to protect Israel against the UN’s obsession with Israel, it
collaborated with the UN behind Israel’s back. Israel looks forward
to working with President-elect Trump and with all our friends in
Congress, Republicans and Democrats alike, to negate the harmful
effects of this absurd resolution.”
So in response to both Israel’s ambassador Danny Danon and
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu individual responses
above, I now very simply say the following below:
