Celebrities Make Another Lame, Repetitive Video About How Butt Hurt They Are Trump Won… This Time, Aimed at Congress Obstructing His Every Turn

How can these people keep churning out these hive mindish, overly scripted, cliché at this point videos where they all parrot each other over and over as if what a bunch of actors say about politics actually matters to politicians or that the majority of everyone’s response isn’t an automatic eye roll?

This latest video features people like Steve Buscemi, Rosie Perez, and Sally Field for a campaign using the hashtag #StandUpforUs and #Obstruct, is from a group that just recently changed its name from “Humanity for Hillary” to “Humanity for Progress”.

The point of the video seems to be to have celebrities call directly upon Congress as the “last line of defense against Trump” so they are asking — no “demanding” — their elected officials: “vigorously oppose Donald J. Trump to the extent that he pursues racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, anti-worker, anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, anti-environmental policies.”

This particular video comes complete with a MoveOn.Org petition that reads in part:

The majority of Americans, regardless of who they voted for, did not vote for racism, for sexism, or for xenophobia. And yet since Donald J. Trump won, hate crimes are rising; women have been attacked in his name; people of color, attacked in his name.

Members of Congress are our last line of defense.

And additionally:

We need and expect [Congress] to protect our civil liberties, and to use your congressional powers to obstruct anything that violates our core values as diverse Americans.

Now all of a sudden they expect Congress to protect our civil liberties?

It’s that last part that’s particularly insulting about this one, actually.

Where were the Humanity for Hillary Progress celebrities calling on Congress to protect our civil liberties through the enactment of the Patriot Act? All the unconstitutional stuff stuffed annually into the NDAA? Pervasive NSA surveillance on domestic soil? These people have stood silent all these years watching the 4th Amendment has get eviscerated, kicked like a dead horse, and buried…

Guess that’s just fine but the potential of the Trump administration (the administration that hasn’t officially done anything yet)? That’s their last straw?? All of a sudden now they have something to say about our civil liberties?

I don’t know what’s more pathetic here. The hypocrisy I just described, or the fact that these actors keep making videos like this as if they honestly believe anyone is taking them seriously anymore because of the hypocrisy I just described.

Well. They are actors after all. They get paid to speak.
