IWI is bringing the DAN .338 precision rifle stateside

IWI US announced at SHOT Show 2017 the vaunted DAN .338 sniper rifle will be the company’s first bolt-action offering in the U.S.
Designed by Dr. Nehamaiya Sirkis, the sub-MOA capable DAN was introduced in 2014 and has seen limited use by British commandos and the Israeli Defence Force. While the powerful .338 Lapua Magnum is listed on IWI’s primary website, it has been absent from the one maintained by its stateside branch. However, that is changing.
“Having the extraordinary DAN .338 in the IWI US catalog is a complement to our current product line-up,” Michael Kassnar, vice president of sales & marketing for IWI US said in a statement. “Until now, we did not have a bolt-action rifle, but then IWI does not believe in filling in its product line-up with just any firearm.”
The DAN is a beast of a rifle, with a 28-inch heavy fluted, free-floating, cold-hammer forged barrel that features a 1:10 twist and a 5/8×24 TPI threaded muzzle. The 10-shot platform ships with a pair of detachable mags, an Atlas bipod and Accu-shot monopod to help provide a steady platform.
To conserve weight, the rifle uses a lightweight aluminum alloy chassis and the side-folding adjustable buttstock is skeletonized. Generous Picatinny rails run top, bottom and both 3- and 6-o’clock positions for aftermarket optics and accessories as the rifle ships sans sights or glass.
