What Does Mormon Doctrine Teach?

(Before It's News)

by Rev. Joda Collins.

Devoted Mormons believe odd things.  Among them, that men can become gods and have their own planets.  God was once a man like any other man.  Satan and Jesus are brothers. Jesus had three or more wives. Heaven, for a Mormon woman, is a state of eternal pregnancy.  Black skin is a sign of a curse. Their book is superior to the Bible.   And, much more.  This movie, THE GOD MAKERS, was produced in the early 1980′s. I am blessed to know Dr. Richard M. Fales (featured briefly in this movie). I was a member (1971-2) of the church of which he was pastor and served as his assistant pastor in 1974-5 (I think. It is getting to be a long time ago).  While I was never part of the active production of this movie, I was part of the conversations relative to its production.  If you would like to know about the Mormon religion, this movie is what you are looking for.

THE GOD MAKERS

Over the years, Mormons have done their best to try to discredit this movie but their attempts have been limited to attacking some of those who appear in the movie without once (that I know of) challenging any statement about Mormonism within this movie. That is significant.  If you want inside insight into the Mormon church you need to see this movie. It is educational and interesting.

I tried a few years ago to find this movie on line and could not.  It has resurfaced. Watch it before it disappears again. Watch it today. It is shocking.  However, please remember that no Mormon that I know of has challenged any specific statement about Mormonism found in this movie.  General statements of dislike and denial exist, such as “this movie does not present the truth about Mormonism.” However, that is a far cry from being able to identify a statement that is wrong.

I read a statement that the movie was “not very loving towards Mormons.”  Such an accusation is irrelevant because this is not a movie about how to love Mormons, but about Mormon doctrine.  Revealing false doctrine is not an attempt to be unloving any more than telling a lost person that without Jesus, he or she will spend eternity separated from God even if he or she believes otherwise. This is awful news, but it is not unloving.  Those who dislike having the facts (beliefs/doctrines) of Mormonism exposed will make any and all kinds of unwarranted accusations in their efforts to discredit the people involved and/or their motivation rather than address the doctrinal errors of Mormonism.
