It’s an annual tradition for the McDonald’s in Green Cove Springs, Florida, to decorate with blue ribbons in honor of law enforcement for National Police Week, but after someone complained about the decorations, McDonald’s corporate office said to take them down. But now, after even more complaints and questions from local reporters, the decorations are back up.

The corporate office told reporters that the decision to remove the decorations wasn’t about the message it conveyed but rather they referred to their “no sign” rule, which states decorations can’t be displayed inside the business. No matter the reason, customers and employees alike were upset by corporate’s decision to remove the decorations.

News4Jax contacted the corporate office about the decision. They confirmed the franchise is locally owned and operated and concluded with, “Beyond that we’re not commenting.”

But soon after the news team started asking questions, employees received permission to put the decorations back up, a move that was met with enthusiasm and support by the community.
