NASA Finds Space Rock Worth $10,000 Quadrillion

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Because it is being dubbed as the space rock that will end the world’s resource problem, The Psyche’s mission is being bumped up.  But it’s highly unlikely that this rock will do anything but pad the pockets of the United States government.  Some even think that the asteriod is so valuable that it will crash the global economy. Don’t think your taxes will be going away either if the government somehow manages to claims this metal space rock for themselves.

An incredibly large asteroid is currently caught in the sun’s orbit between Mars and Jupiter. According to NASA researchers, the Psyche planetoid, measuring 240km (149 miles) in diameter, is located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.  Scientists believe that the asteroid is composed of a heavy concentration of highly valuable metals such as iron, nickel, and gold. It is believed that the iron alone present in the composition of the rock is worth the equivalent of $10,000 quadrillion, enough to dwarf the entire world’s economy which currently stands at $73.7 trillion.

Based on how much it’s worth, of course, the US government is probably going to try to mine the asteroid.  NASA has also bumped up their launch date to the asteroid. It’s easy to follow the money. We’d expect nothing less from the largest corporation on earth.  But what does that mean for us?  Probably not much.  Taxes are a means to keep us in line, and the more money the government has, the easier it is to control us.  Most put absolutely no faith in the US government and it’s doubtful that any sort of resources acquired will be used for the good of humanity. Nonetheless, NASA is going to try to get to the asteroid as quickly as possible because of its value.

“We challenged the mission design team to explore if an earlier launch date could provide a more efficient trajectory to the asteroid Psyche, and they came through in a big way,” said Jim Green, director of the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington, as cited in a NASA press releaseThis will enable us to fulfill our science objectives sooner and at a reduced cost, he added.

The original launch date for the mission was in 2023 with a scheduled arrival sometime in 2030. With the new trajectory, however, it will launch in the summer of 2022 and arrive at the asteroid belt in 2026.  The important factor is how the NASA team will ensure that this exploration of the asteroid will commence four years ahead of schedule. The key to the galactic shortcut is mindblowing in and of itself. By scrapping a planned gravity boost around the Earth, the team of scientists figured out how to avoid any pit stops or paying the gravity toll in passing too close to the sun.

“It’s such a strange object,” principal investigator Lindy Elkins-Tanton of Arizona State University in Tempe previously told Global News Canada in January. Even if we could grab a big metal piece and drag it back here … what would you do? Could you kind of sit on it and hide it and control the global resource – kind of like diamonds are controlled corporately – and protect your market? What if you decided you were going to bring it back and you were just going to solve the metal resource problems of humankind for all time? This is wild speculation, obviously.”

NASA is simply an arm of the government, so of course, any resources collected would go straight to US political structure. The Psyche is nonetheless a fascinating object. But looking at this skeptically and from all angles could help us avoid falling victims to the government should they be successful at mining the asteroid of it’s $10000 quadrillion worth of metals.
