US IN SYRIA: Welcome to the Wild ‘Wild West’ – Iranian Drone Shot Down in Al Tanf

Washington is rapidly regressing to its “wild west” roots, abandoning all semblance of international lawfulness and breaking all its own records for ignominious and rogue state behaviour. Hot on the heels of its “first air to air kill” since 1999 (thankfully the pilot of the downed Syrian SU-22 jet has since been rescued by the Syrian Arab Army and is now safe) the US has now reportedly shot down an Iranian drone in the same conflictual area of Al Tanf on the Syrian border with Iraq where the US has unsuccessfully tried to prevent Syria/Iraq unity with the SAA moving west to east to join with Iraqi forces at the border.
“The U.S. plan was to move from al-Tanf north towards the Euphrates river and to thereby capture and control the whole south-east of Syria.” As reported by Moon of Alabama, this plan has failed dismally.
From the same article: “The U.S. invaders are now sitting in the mid of a piece of rather useless desert around al-Tanf where their only option is to die of boredom or to move back to Jordan from where they came.”
It seems that the US has decided to keep lashing out in frustration at the Syria/Russia/Iran alliance that is confounding it. This report from RT:
An armed Shaheed-129 UAV “displayed hostile intent and advanced on Coalition forces” at 12:30 am local time on Tuesday, the coalition said in a statement. The drone was observed in the same area where another UAV was shot down on June 8.

Tanf is the town on Syrian border with Jordan where US troops are training Syrian rebels, officially described as “partner ground forces.”
The coalition “does not seek to fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend Coalition or partner forces from any threat,” the statement said.
On Sunday, US aircraft shot down a Syrian government jet that was bombing Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) positions south of Raqqa, in eastern Syria.
In response, Russia announced its air defenses would track all coalition targets west of the Euphrates, and suspend the “deconfliction” hotline. Moscow has accused the US of not using the hotline to prevent the Raqqa incident.

While the US maintains the hotline is still operational, the coalition said it will “not allow pro-regime aircraft to threaten or approach in close proximity to Coalition and partnered forces.”
Hostility towards coalition and partner forces “conducting legitimate counter-ISIS operations will not be tolerated,” the coalition said. There is no IS-controlled territory in contact with the US-backed forces at Tanf, however.
Reacting to Russia’s warning, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has suspended flights over Syria.

Since the US is in Syria absolutely illegally throwing their weight about and as many missiles, etc. that they can throw them, they had better beware of the wild, wild East. Russia has done more to oust ISIS and bring some sense of relief to Syria than the US who seem hell bent on destroying the whole country.
