About the FlytCycle

It’s hard to believe, but we built the current FlytCycle in just three short weeks starting in late April.  Since its completion in mid May we’ve already conducted countless test flights and it’s the best flying vehicle we’ve ever made, plus it’s been a ton of fun to be able to fly it around and see what it can do!

It can fly for 10-15 minutes on a single set of batteries and weights ~165lbs empty.  We’re currently testing it in more challenging environments such as dusty fields to prove how well it works.

Although it’s powerful enough to fly a person, it’s small enough to fit in the bed of a standard pickup truck!

Previous versions

In early April, 2017 we completed the second FlytCycle as a demonstration of where we wanted to take it.  Unfortunately, it ended up being fairly large and some problems cropped up during testing. 

You can see how great it looks, but after several weeks of tests we decided the original FlytCycle design was a better choice.

In December, 2016 we finished the first test platform in the video below.  It’s purpose was to quickly determine feasibility of the concept and to allow us to test some things.  We flew it with people riding it and with no tethers for several minutes at a time. and it exceeded our highest expectations.  It answered all the questions we had and more, specifically:

1. It works!
2. It’s very stable
3. It’s highly maneuverable
4. It flies for several minutes at a time with no problems
5. And most importantly, it’s really fun to ride!
