Kim Jong-un’s Disappearance Could Point to Missile Strike

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is getting more confident in his nuclear weapon arsenal. And now some say Kim is showing signs of war, as he’s vanished from the public eye for two weeks.

The last time Kim went days without being seen was prior to the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) test launch in late July. At that time, Kim remained in hiding for two weeks before making another grandiose public appearance. But the timing of this disappearance is a little unsettling, as tensions between North Korea and the United States are almost at a breaking point. Nuclear war tensions continue to mount between Washington and Pyongyang, and on the heels of the leader’s threat to attack the U.S. island territory of Guam, analysts think the rogue dictator’s disappearance is a bad sign.

South Korean media reported that Kim has been in hiding for two weeks, prompting fears that he may be preparing to mark Tuesday’s public holiday by firing a new rocket. Many speculate that this means a strike by North Korea is imminent. On Tuesday, North Korea is set to commemorate the Korean Peninsula’s liberation from Japan at the end of World War II, so it’s likely the dictator won’t go unseen during that time. But it also could mean that Kim has plans to “celebrate” North Korea’s “liberation” by firing the ICBMs he’s been testing at American territories.

Adding to the speculation of an imminent rocket-fire test, last week U.S.-based North Korea watchdog site 38 North released satellite imagery of a submarine base in the hermit country, showing that tarps had been placed above both the fore and aft decks of the Sinpo-class submarine base, presumably to conceal any inside movements. – FOX News

But other say not to worry too much, as Kim has disappeared before because of health and physical conditions. Analysts have pointed out that Kim’s unknown physical ailments have kept him out of the public’s view. Furthermore, his father, Kim Jong-il, disappeared for around six weeks after the United States invaded Iraq in 2003, prompting speculation that he simply may have felt threatened and in need of safety.

President Donald Trump vowed last week that the U.S. would respond with “fire and fury” and is “locked and loaded” should North Korea dare come close to carrying an attack on the U.S. territory of Guam. Pentagon officials have told Fox News that the U.S. military stands ready to “fight tonight.” Of course, state media (propaganda) in Pyongyang said that “even a single shell dropped on the Korea Peninsula might lead to the outbreak of thermonuclear war.” They added that North Korea considers “the U.S. no more than a lump” which it “can beat to a jelly at any time.”

Tensions will continue to rise until there is an all out nuclear war, or there is peace.  Sadly, it appears that politicians seek the former.
