7 Things That We’ve Been Taught WRONG In School

The vast majority of the things they teach us in school are true, of course.

And while in this article we point some of the many things that have been omitted from history books or even taught wrong, it isn’t our intention to question the work of schools or teachers but to point out several things that need to be added to school books or corrected for that matter.

In the Middles, people believed the Earth was… FLAT. Wrong.

In the Middle Ages, it was believed that the Earth was flat…. Not really.

“All scholars of the Middle Ages knew that the Earth was a sphere,” explains Umberto Eco in History of lands and legendary places, quoting Dante, Origen, Ambrosio, Albertus Magnus, Thomas Aquinas and Isidore of Seville, who even calculated the length of the equator.

Christopher Columbus did not discover America.

To begin with, there were already people in America, so the continent was discovered.

Another thing is that the Europeans ignored its existence.

And Columbus never knew he had come upon a new continent. Besides that, before him, it is believed that the Phoenicians, Polynesians, Chinese and even the Vikings traveled to the American Continent.

The pyramids were built by slaves… Not!

Archaeologist Mark Lehner and Egyptian antique secretary Zahi Hawass discovered a couple of decades ago the graveyard of the builders of the great pyramid, not it is known that these immense monuments were not built by slaves with lashes, as cinema has accustomed us to believe but paid Egyptian workers.

The ‘Arctic’ was discovered more than 2,300 years ago, and it’s one of the many discoveries omitted from history books.

More than 2,300 years ago, a man called Pytheas of Massalia managed to travel to the Arctic Circle and was able to return to tell the story. Pytheas was a navigator, geographer, astronomer, and the first Greek sailing from the Mediterranean Sea into the Atlantic.

The idea of Alien life isn’t new.

Giordano Bruno a man who was born in 1548 said that proposed that distant stars were just suns surrounded by their own exoplanets. Bruno raised the possibility that these planets could even foster life of their own.

“In space, there are countless constellations, suns, and planets; we see only the suns because they give light; the planets remain invisible, for they are small and dark. There are also numberless earth’s circling around their suns…” ― Giordano Bruno.

Thousands of years ago, people thought time travel was possible.

Evidence of ‘time travel’ can be found in numerous ancient manuscripts and texts including the Bible. In addition to the Bible, an ancient Indian text of the Mahabharata, written sometime during the eighth century BC, King Raivata is described as traveling to the heavens to meet with the creator god Brahma, only to return to Earth hundreds of years in the future. We can find references of Time Travel in the Quran. The story refers to a group of individuals, who in 250 AD sought to the persecution, and withdrew, under the guidance of God, to a cave where God made them sleep. They woke up 309 years later.

The Great Flood mentioned in the Bible is a copy.

Many people are familiar with the Genesis Flood Narrative which is written down in chapters 6–9 in the Book of Genesis, in the Bible.

However, the truth is that the great flood is mentioned much earlier in totally different texts. In fact, the ‘Great Flood’ is present in nearly all cultures around the globe. The ancient Sumerian Nippur tablet describes the oldest account of the Great Flood and the creation of both humans and animals on our planet and records the names of Antediluvian cities on earth and their respective rulers.
