Anniversary of Trump’s election perceived as “tragedy that befell our country”

With bodies dropping like flies in the frenzied aftermath of harassment allegations consuming the news, you might have missed a really big event that required an RSVP.

Most of us think of The Scream as an overrated, overpriced painting by Norwegian primitive artist Edvard Munch. The mixed media (crayon, pastel, tempera and oil on cardboard) last sold for nearly $120 million. And it’s not even unique. There are four versions of the childlike artwork floating around.

But there is another “scream” that Newsweek magazine thought was worthy of coverage. It pertains to the dissolute liberals, still depressed over sandal plagued Hillary Clinton’s presidential loss. Putting their time to optimum use, they gathered in Boston to scream at the sky, in a display of their utter despair as they “acknowledge the tragedy that befell our country on November 8^th.” That day marked the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s election.

While the event calls upon people to “Scream Helplessly, we want to convert that sense of helplessness into resistance, into action, and maybe even into optimism,” Scream activist Johanna Schulman explained.. “Although it is important to acknowledge the tragedy that befell our country on November 9th, we cannot let it defeat us!”

“This administration has attacked everything about what it means to be American,” said Schulman, an organizer the event, told Newsweek. “Who wouldn’t feel helpless every day? Coming together reminds us that we are not alone, that we are part of an enormous community of activists who are motivated and angry, whose actions can make a difference.”

Screaming babies garner a lot of attention. They are usually calmed when their dirty diapers are changed or with a bottle of warm milk. Adults publicly braying at the sky were once confined to asylums. Now they walk among us. They are liberals.
